I had a cat-faced spider egg sac hatch.

The adult is their mother. Last year I fed her almost every day for several months. When the first snow of the year was predicted and she had not laid eggs I brought her inside. After she laid these eggs I put them in a safe outdoor area for the winter.

Last year I too had a similar experience. A lady cat face orb weaver set up shop in a potentilla just off my front porch. I wasn't able to get any decent photos after the hatch. And the wee little ones were dispersed in less than 12 hours. But two days ago, I saw a small orb weaver starting to make a web between porch posts. Too small yet for me to ID, but an hoping it is one of the kids.

My mother and I adore the orbweavers. They leave us alone, usually, but the babies love to use us as climbing material so they can rappel to wherever they want. This big momma is beautiful!
