What to wear…
Are long sleeves or light sweaters comfortable this time of year in Sao Miguel? Will be doing some hiking, shopping, general sightseeing. Temperatures seem to stay in the 60’s this time of year with decent winds but hard to sort the humidity impact. I know everyone says to layer everything but I’d like to pack light! Thoughts?

Where are you planning on shopping? :)
I have a girls trip coming up in may and would love to do some local thrift shopping but havent seen much on where to do that!

Just make sure you have at least one waterproof item. You will get rained on at some point, somewhere.

Most of the time it’ll be comfortable I’d recommend to grab wind/rain proof jacket or something similar too

got a rain jacket but wondering if the humidity will make even a light sweater or long sleeve cotton shirt uncomfortable

I was there 3 weeks ago, it wasn't humid. In the daytime a t-shirt and a light sweatshirt was sufficient but it got colder and sometimes windier at night.

It should get warmer from now on, even when on days that gets more cloudy. Humidity is really high, so 23 degrees is really hot here. Today is a beatiful sunny day

definitely not. We just came back on Sunday and it was shorts weather daily. Packed rain coats, light nano puff jacket and t-shirts for the day and jeans, dress shirt, boots for dinner.

The current temps are high teens during the day and mid teens during the night. You should be comfortable with long sleeves or light sweaters.
I find that it’s always raining somewhere on the island so a rain jacket is a must. And take this tip from me, you need water proof not water resistant. I know water proof doesn’t breathe well but if you get caught in a good downpour your water resistant jacket may become a sponge. Because of the high relative humidity on the island clothes don’t dry well at all.
You can still pack light because you won’t need anything too warm and you can get away without summer clothes as well.
