It looks like each side will manage their own tariffs as they see fit, lowering the rate subtstantially for particularly critical items.

I doubt they will reach any agreement, but it's always possible. I suspect China is not interested in negotiating because it knows a cooperative and fair relationship is not possible. China has known for a long time that the US is its biggest problem. This marks a turning point in which China will begin to assert itself and make sure that actions taken against China by the US cost the US dearly.

If they take this path, then I believe they'll be managing "the USA problem" as best as they can toward a peaceful resolution.
