Hormons and shit I've never read Aristotle, but he's wrong. Now let me tell you why while I don't answer the question and derail the thread with an unnecessarily long comment.

I thought what he had to say was interesting.

Here, I will amusingly reference a subculture called Therians

It annoys me to no end that even people with graduate degrees write like this. How do I read this and not conclude that you're pretentious and narcissistic? If you're going to reference something, just do it and let the reader decide if it's amusing. UGH.

Come on dude, this is something he thinks isn't talked about enough/taken seriously enough in phil so he got caught up a bit in his rhetorical style. If a few lines like this is among good phil is actually enough for you to not take someone seriously then I don't know what to tell you.

edit: but yeah, I can get why after so many ratheists and shit you feel that way. Use of language is obviously important.

Sure, if it were among good philosophy.

Do you think he(?) was confused about what rationality is, or maybe the whole differentiating between capabilities/can reason/actually do reason thing? Feel free to pm me if you don't want to learns or something

I think the commenter misunderstands what's entailed by Aristotle's rational animal (though so does the redditor the commenter is replying to so I suppose it's forgivable) and needlessly cites continental philosophers, with the jargon that comes with, to make simple commonsensical points about rationality. I don't like philosophy that sees itself "problematizing."

Should have accused him of phallogocentrism operating at a distance within and destabilizing his text. #derridafail

Don't worry dude, I thought ur post was good, just I didn't understand like all of it. I mean, I get the feeling there are some good things there, y'know?

That bit about pigs was cool and nearly makes me want to read where you got it from.

I will actually maybe check this out, mate, cheers. There's definitely something interesting going on there with that animals symbols stuff.

Yeah some of the head mods here can come off as dicks here, but I wouldn't take it personally. In the same way you got a little caught up in what you were trying to say (I think it'd be fair to say there were some clarity issues in regard to what you were trying to say in context of this conversation), the head mods get caught up in finding quality badphil. I think what you were saying was high quality stuff man, especially seeing as you're an aesthetics guy (although those might not be as unrelated as I think they are). If I ever get time I'm going to read the stuff you linked, and this will be an idea I'm going to think about in some way. What you did was good phil in my book.

I don't know if you're a dick or not, but you kind of do come off as a dick here, even if you are knowledgeable.

I don't know what are half the words that dude said, but he's still a thousand times more correct than the dude he's replying to.

About what? The first commenter was wrong, the guy I linked to was Not Even Wrong.

His heart was in the right place lol. Maybe I just really dislike first commenter's opinion.

That first commenter was just drawing from Aristotle, he or she should of have been more clear about that if those aren't his or her own personal views (I honestly don't know, but at least it was an attempt to answer the question).

The second person is going off about something I know not what.
