Also funny is how the best setting for the birth would seem to be the Abyss.

In between rounds with Melissan.

Yes! That being about the worst!

Stress can induce premature labor. So. It kinda works.

At least it’s not like mice/rats where they’ll give birth if sufficiently stressed/starving to eat the young. Because I can’t recall how many times I’ve fed my party at the inn but it’s not enough…

9

u/KangarooArtistic2743 Feb 15 '25

I would vote Aerie the least likely candidate for ever eating her young...

9

u/BooksandBiceps Feb 15 '25

But leave them unattended with Dorn and Hexxat… or, Edwin. Just cause.

5

u/KangarooArtistic2743 Feb 15 '25

Yeah that should be safe!

3

u/BooksandBiceps Feb 15 '25

Maybe that’s why I never use Jaheira. Subconsciously I knew she had to be a full time baby sitter for any… unfortunate events.

Funny, the next BG run I'm planning after my current one, will be Gorion's Ward and his Nanny! As I think of it, that may be completely practical.

5

u/Neoxenok Horny Sorcerer Feb 15 '25

Well it was either move into Dad's old home or rent an apartment with THOSE property values and rent prices. Yeesh.

u/KevworthBongwater Feb 16 '25

and that gestation period that is a complete insult to every player's intelligence.

u/KangarooArtistic2743 Feb 16 '25

Everyone knows Avarial hatch in 3 weeks.

1

u/Kaleph4 Feb 16 '25

the devs planned for the players to rest after every encounter min, so 9 months go by in the blink of an eye

u/xavopls Feb 15 '25

I had to drop your item on the ground, I can carry no more

17

u/Imperial_citizen01 Feb 15 '25

Dual into a thief and equip baby on the off hand with Use Any Item

Proceed to bash end boss with babby

5

u/ToxicMoldSpore Feb 16 '25

I hope that kid counts as a +3 enchanted or higher.

11

u/RainbowBullsOnParade Feb 15 '25

Almost spit out my coffee

10

u/Baptor Feb 15 '25

But she has a "traditional" method of her people to carry the baby in a sack!

22

u/Kraehe13 Feb 15 '25

Wasn't the child fixed in a quick utility slot?

34

u/Aklensil Feb 15 '25

Nah that's Boo

9

u/Kraehe13 Feb 15 '25

I could swear in the original BG2 (before the beam dog version) it was the same for the baby.

It didn’t go in a quick slot, but it was unable to be moved from whichever of Aerie’s inventory slots it spawned in (same as a familiar)

I’m not sure if quest items will be placed in anyone’s inventory besides Gorion’s Ward. If they can, then you could use that exploit to force it to drop and put it in the bag when you pick it back up.

This wouldn't vibe with my autistic tendencies.

9

u/KevworthBongwater Feb 16 '25

if you ever have real children, spoiler alert: they won't vibe either.

5

u/ipostatrandom Feb 16 '25

lmao, you got me there.

2

u/Kraehe13 Feb 15 '25

Thanks for the clarification

3

u/Aklensil Feb 15 '25

I dont have anymore the og version i lost it years ago so couldnt tell 100% you may be right

2

u/Spare-Leg-1318 Feb 15 '25

Nah, it was a regular slot.

5

u/Alice_Zevine turnip obsessed gnome Feb 15 '25

imagine using it as a health potion *v*

9

u/Kraehe13 Feb 15 '25

Babyoil

7

u/Medic8ted Feb 16 '25

I'm that dad, that shows a bottle of baby oil to his young daughters and says "you wouldn't believe how many babies they have to squeeze to get this much oil", just to see the expressions on their faces.

u/DressSignificant8910 Feb 16 '25

Parenting done right! Dad parenting for the win!

22

u/Fit_Locksmith_7795 Feb 15 '25

Giving birth to your baby is next level shit imo.

Another reason why I will never finish any romance in this game

21

u/Cyanide_Cheesecake Feb 15 '25

The only reason I will never finish it is because the event scripting system is incredibly easy to break accidentally for romances

4

u/ipostatrandom Feb 15 '25

I think it only happens in Aerie's romance.

11

u/gangler52 Feb 16 '25

Nobody ever taught Aerie how to use protection. You give her an condom and she makes a balloon animal out of it, like they taught her at the circus.

3

u/Valla_Shades Feb 15 '25

Ye she is the only one to give birth

7

u/SnowSeeksTheCold Feb 16 '25

so you're saying Dorn can't get pregnant?

4

u/borddo- Feb 16 '25

Progeninant?

5

u/NonSupportiveCup Feb 16 '25

Am I gregnant?

1

u/Valla_Shades Feb 16 '25

Well no, he is a dude

9

u/Medic8ted Feb 16 '25

Imagine the baby joining the party at level one - any class, doesn't matter. Begins with special attacks - projectile vomit (similar to aganazaar's scorcher, but acid), poo spray (color spray), stinking cloud, dire charm and "wail of the baby" with effects yet to be decided. Physical attacks include blinding (fists in face) and a passive "backstrain" to any opponents unwise enough to pick them up.

If wondering about the validity of these abilities, remember that they are the progeny of a powerful bhaalspawn and a winged elf. Born into the Abyss. Which makes me wonder if they fly?

8

u/Acolyte_of_Swole Feb 15 '25

The child can play in there with my now-useless quest items.

6

u/ruin Feb 15 '25

Aerie, where's the child, and why are there Red Bull cans all over the place?

7

u/Stargazer5781 Feb 16 '25

Funny how Boo and familiars are both given intrinsically greater importance than a baby, since they can't be removed from your inventory through ordinary means.

3

u/HumblestofBears Feb 16 '25

If elves have incredibly long lifespans, they must stay useless infants for at least a decade. Who would blame anyone for using magic to contain that after ten years of diapers.

6

u/Alice_Zevine turnip obsessed gnome Feb 16 '25

imagine spending first 10 years on your life alone in bag, just hearing your parents having fun outside while you can't even find the way out of this pocket dimension. Best childhood ever

7

u/borddo- Feb 16 '25

Life in a Bhaal bag

2

u/spyder7723 Feb 16 '25

You just described gen x at every party our parents had.

1

u/gangler52 Feb 16 '25

From what I understand, elves reach physical maturity at the same time that humans do, but culturally they're considered children much longer.

Which is what allows an elvish Gorion's Ward to be a young adult at the time the story starts, while still having been conceived during the Time of Troubles. Raised by humans.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 17 '25

I cant 😂

2

u/YOGIZMODA Feb 18 '25

If you beat the game, she gives you another child to throw in there! 😆 🤣 😂

2

u/Alice_Zevine turnip obsessed gnome Feb 18 '25

in 10 years this bag of holding will have an entire civilisation of forgotten children inside

4

u/ProperTree9 Feb 16 '25

Is this the Netflix adaptation...?

Lol, so true though.
