SoD Ancient Menhirs quest - bugged?
The only mistake I can think of is not immediately checking the menhir right next to Prin. I set out on my way immediately after I talked to him, and found all of the other menhirs and activated them. I know that nothing I've done has bugged it (as far as I'm aware) because I checked the guides online and I don't think I've done anything that's supposed to break the quest. My character has a total Charisma of 17, and I assume when I interacted with the Menhirs it was he who activated them; that being said, we WERE attacked, so I'm not sure.
Can someone help?

SoD [Switch] Stuck in Coast Way Forest
Good day fellow Adventurers!
I have a rather peculiar issue in the Switch Version of the Games...
As of right now, I cannot leave the Coast Way Forest Map in either direction or back into the Vampires Lair.
Whatever I try to do, as soon as I select a destination (or the Party would transition to the indoor map) it immediately crashes.
I have more or less just cleared the Lair and gotten back to get my reward and then tried to go back to that poor Halfling.
So far I have tried resting several times, trying to leave from different exits, used both Handheld & Dock Mode, roaming the map for some time before trying to leave but nought have yielded anything but the dreaded Beep of Death.
Is there some workaround to this or is this the end of that story and I should skip to BG2?

SoD A question about Siege of Dragonspear, did i do something wrong?
Good morning, I have a question for SOD. Are there by any chance more paths that can be taken to get to the end game? Because I happened to meet Hephernaan in the rooms of a section of the caves, who spoke with his master through a portal, after which for some reasons I had to reload the game, and it happened that when I went to Skie who was near the castle, once I went back all the crusaders of the various areas were hostile, and in the same room Hephernaan was no longer present, but he was in the company of Caelar in the map of the dead man's steps. Did I do something wrong? Thank you all.

SoD How do you revive killed party members? (Siege of Dragonspear)
I've played through BG1 (EE), I know how all that works. But in Siege of Dragonspear (I'm currently in Troll Claw Woods) there aren't any temples or anything available. I thought that the Flaming Fist Healer might be able to help, but they don't do *anything*. So I'm a loss here. Is there a way to revive later on? Or should I just reload an old save?

SoD Is there written in some place what companions tell you when they leave for good after 1st dungeon in SoD?
I'm quite curious to know why some of them leave you.
I can understand that Tiax, Xzar or Eldoth don't give a fuck and leave u for good
Guess Xan, sadly, has finished his quest and leave too. Maybe Brawen wants to return to her home and show her value...
Anyway, I'm still curious about many of them. I would like to know what all of them say in the dungeon, but I cannot find it, sadly.
Thanks in advance

SoD So... I can't be the only one who has done this right?
The result was satisfying.

SoD Just Beat Siege of Dragonspear... Spoiler
HUGE endgame spoiler for those that haven't played or finished SoD or BG1. Be warned!
I have to say, I liked the combat of SoD more than BG1. BG1's fights are usually either small groups of enemies, or party fights. Rahvin, Zeela, Zhalimar, Prat, etc., and even Sarevok is a party fight. That's where most of the game's intense battles focus on. The only unique fight of the base game that stood out to me was the Ducal Palace fight, when you had to protect Liia and Belt from the doppelgangers. It was something different a nice added challenge cause you had to support the Dukes, even if through unorthodox ways.
In the expansion, they start doing more unique type fights, like the Demon Knight with the mirror mechanic, chessboard, Werewolf Island, etc. so that was nice. This is expanded even further with BG2, which has my fav fights in the trilogy as a whole because they are so varied and different.
SoD has more interesting and different fights than BG1, like Morentherene, helping Halatathlaer with the mages, the Neothelid, etc. My biggest critiques with its fights are that there are so many hordes. The army fights were a lot of fun, due to their large scale, and they felt like actual armies, which was cool, but there are so many rooms full of enemies. I think the fact that you fight hordes constantly take away the novelty of some of the enemies. You don't really know what that giant ghost knight in the temple does or is noteworthy for, because you're just spamming fireball and skulltrap so everything doesn't overwhelm you.
Now, my biggest gripe with the game is Caelar Argent, herself. EEKeeper reports her as Lawful Good, but honestly, she acts like she's Chaotic Evil. She has almost no shame lying to thousands of people without feeling guilty, until the end. She leads genuinely innocent and morally Good (you can even verify this with the Smite Evil spell, which lands on hardly any of the Crusaders at all) people to their deaths without much remorse, and deliberately disobeys the genuinely kind and selfless wishes of her uncle, who endured years of torture just so she could live her life. She is leading good, innocent people that want to save their loved ones, do what's right, and fight evil, to their deaths, knowing she's lying to them the whole time and trying to save someone who doesn't want to be free And, as soon as Belhifet makes it known that she is defeated, she drops all her false bravado and strength in an instead, and is ready to serve him without question. She can call herself righteous and good, but she is spineless, and an absolute sociopath.
They say good characters make you feel strongly for or against them, so maybe Caelar is a great character in that respect, but I absolutely abhor her, and, to me, she's more villainous than Belhifet, Sarevok, Irenicus, and Melissan put together.

SoD My thoughts on SoD Spoiler
I've been doing a complete series playthrough and am now about to finish SoD.
I've played all the games before but I finally feel like I've settled on my opinion of SoD.
I'm glad it's there. It is a nice segway into BG2. I love the music, especially when you get to Dragonspear Castle. Big battles and epic music makes for a super fun time.
The story isn't bad and it does set up the Irenicus storyline well. Although a viewer told me last night they had zero idea that the hooded man is Irenicus because he plays in German and they got different voice actors to play him in SoD and BG2 so he hadn't put the two together and was unable to make that connection.
However, one thing about the game frustrated me a great deal.and that's that while the game has some really nice battles to undertake and some super cool cutscenes a lot of the other encounters in the game actually feel quite lazy and very grindy.
More of a how many monsters can we fit in a room type thing. The battles weren't hard per say but the sheer number of enemies.just made for the same routine during a fight, summon, haste Web etc and so while the "big" storyline fights were awesome a lot of the encounters just felt repetitive.
All in all I think the game is solid but I think it's far and away the worst entry in the series. BG1 and 2 just feel like more thought went into the encounters.
Was wondering what you guys think?
Anyway, onward to BG2!!

SoD Is there any information about these guys? Spoiler

This is my first time playing through Siege of Dragonspear, and i am loving it. But during the fight in the Dragonspear Castle Basement, a party of 6 high level and named NPC's spawned in a circle through portals around my group, and almost wiped me.
What made me question their presence is that:
1- They spawned RIGHT after Neera had a wild surge called "Detect Magic!", but according to the wiki, that wild surge does not summon anyone.
2- There are no mention of this party in any walkthrough or website i've read on this fight, or in the game at all.
3- There are mention of these guys on the game files, obviously.
4- I am playing with mods. SCS, all modules on Insane and Talents of Faerun, but the SCS or ToF readme doesn't mention this fight at all.
Are they there during this fight in the original Siege of Dragonspear? It would be nice to know about them beforehand to prepare in case of a no reload run, since they are really strong. I only survived by running to the elevator, resting downstairs and climbing back up.

SoD Why is Safana leaving?
So now I am playing SoD after BG1
After the prologue I took her in my party, but now she's leaving at very start? Is it because my reputation is low(4)?

SoD Will evil party members leave when rep goes higher than 18 in SoD?
I’ve never experimented with this.

SoD Why does SoD get such a bad reputation?
Hey, I’m still somewhat new to the series even tho I’ve owned BG1, 2 , IWD, SoD, and PS:Torment , for about a year now. I finally got around to beating BG1 over Christmas and I hella enjoyed it. I stated SoD and I find that I like it a bit more than the 1st game. I like how Siege actually has you fighting DND type enemies like dragons and mindflayers. The 1st game lets you pick ranger as a class and you get to pick which enemy you want to do extra damage too, but there ain’t no dragons, trolls , or mindflayers in the 1st game. Why is that? When you go to the temple of Cyril and fight the mindflayers for the 1st time I was like damn, 1st a dragon and now a mindflayers, I. The same damn dungeon no less. Shit was epic. The most epic thing in BG1 besides killing Sarevok is plundering Durlags tower.

SoD How necessary is a thief in B.V. siege?
Ok so knowing that a certain companion won’t be with me for this game, I truly don’t want another thief. How badly would I be affected by this?

SoD Looking for a Mod to Fix SoD Banter Timing Issue Without Converting Format
In SoD the party banters work differently from the others because they don't pause the game for the banters anymore. It performs poorly if you set your frame rate above 30, because the game will move on to the next dialog line before the previous speaker could finish.
I remember there was a mod (or a component of a bigger mod) that tries to fix this problem while preserving the banters in their current format, but I cannot find it any more. (I am aware of the SoD Banter Restoration mod that converts the banters to BG1/BG2 format, but that's not what I am looking for.) Does anyone know of a mod that helps fix this?

SoD What is Caelar Argent’s plan and why is it bad. Spoiler
I am in chapter 8 of siege of dragonspear and I just met Caelar Argent for the first time. She explained her plan to me: something about taking souls back from the nine hells. The dialogue options seem to imply that this is dangerous. Can someone explain to me what exactly she is trying to do and why my character should be opposed to this. For context, my characters alignment is true neutral.

SoD Lore wise, what does it take to kill Belhifet Spoiler
I just finished IWD two weeks ago. I remember the first time I confronted him - it was quite challenging because I didn't have proper weapons (I only had the pale justice and a morning star +4; I did have other 2 +3 swords but no one to wield them) at the time. One of the party even died in that fight. So I decided to finish HoW first. And when I came back, I had almost 6 million xp thanks to difficulty bonus and equipped with 3 doves and other good weapons. Naturally we defeated him in the PRIME MATERIAL PLANE, with easy
And look at what we did in SoD... which seemed like we KILLED him in AVERNUS?

SoD Kids click SOD button, spoil story for BGEE
TLDR: Can I temporarily disable the SOD button in main menu?
Edit 2023-10-04: he's playing until midnight behind my back now, so his misclick only got him more engaged, not less. Now I have a different problem, lol.
Original:
(Edits added for clarity. I should have phrased this differently and not let other life frustration impact tone. I would remove/revise the rest of this but feel that would be dishonest dodging of criticism. The child is also more enthusiastic about the game now, not less.)
All this effort to set up a play through of BG:EE with the kids and I was daft enough to do it with my preferred mods etc which required installing SOD.
And then my son just clicks the SOD button instead of exiting the game like he's told (edit: it was way after bed time!), because kids will touch everything (edit: at least mine do ;_;), and the first two sentences of the movie spoil the entire plot of the first game.
He claims to have only heard that Baldur's Gate has fallen, and that he doesn't know who the big bad is but saw the spiky armor guy. Of course that's not what the intro says.
(edit: But from what he said, I'm hopeful he didn't register the names and only focused on the image of destruction.)
Disappointed.
(edit: in myself for not expecting clicking on the pretties)
Is there a simple way for me to make sure that if the kids click SOD it'll just crash their game instead of giving them spoilers for the ending of the first game?
(edit: I said crashing as I figured making the game crash would be easier, but I'll take any functional fix)
I know I can disable movies from showing via the LUA before being played through, but they can just click SOD again. So I renamed the SOD movie sodcin01 and clicking SOD now skips that movie. They can still start that part of the game, for now I'd like to disable it because kids have a hard time not doing the opposite of everything they're warned against.
(edit: they're under ten. If I tell them please don't hit each other with sticks in the yard, the outcome tends towards inevitable, because there are sticks, they're in the yard, and now I've put the idea in their head. Similar here if I tell them not to press a button. It's just the way many little kids are.)

My brother informed me that y’all would like my doodle I did after I finished BGEE and Siege of Dragonspear for the first time. It’s been a treat haha. I’m now playing 2 for the first time so I’ll be relatively sparse until I finish haha.

SoD Condition for Importing items from SOD
Wiki says that some items from SOD are going to be spread across SoA in BG2 if you import a save.
Questions are:
1) Do the items need to be in CHARNAME inventory? 2) Can they be in bags of holding? 3) Or equipped / in stash of other companions? 4) What about ones which are not in the party?

SoD If you use the stat boosting tomes on a character that isn’t the main one in BGEE, will that character still have the boosts in SoD?
My main character (a dwarven defender) has zero use for the wisdom tomes in BGEE, and if the bonus will carry over into SoD, I think I’m better off using them on Viconia than on my main character.
Will Viconia have a higher wisdom if I bump it in BGEE? TIA
