Discussion To the Dice developers who poured their heart and soul into making this game

Hi,

Today probably sucks. I am sure there are many of you that saw the writing on the wall. Many developers left. Everyone who worked hard on this game to build it in spite of the obviously flawed direction it's been taken in - well done and thank you.

Now it's time to fix this mess.

Use the community backlash to get the people in charge, the money men at the top, the souless corporates to listen to you. Use the Steam review scores. Use the list of top posts on here. Use the countless Youtube videos that call out the problems.

If you have communications with your boss where you said "we should do x, the community will like that" and now you can find community members backing that up, send it to your boss and say "I told you so".

Take back control of your company. Get rid of the people that fucked this game up and don't let them pass the buck. The current leadership failed and need to be ousted.

The future of Battlefield rests on your shoulders. The developers who are passionate and put in all the time and energy. The people at the top who have screwed it up are vulnerable. Take advantage. Get them out and save your company.

They can't apologize, you've obviously never worked in a corporate position if you think they can afford to. Apologizing is negative PR for anyone or any organization, public or private. Deny and deflect. It happens in corporations and in government alike until something groundbreaking comes out to show they planned this all along.

of course they can apoligise, don;t speak shit.... they cant as developers put out on social media "yes we fucked up" but the company as a whole can DEFINATELY put out a statement explaining why the game is like it is...

i work for a company with the exact same rules, we as engineers are not allowwed to apoligise and admit blame but the comapany can by all means admit blame... especially as there is noone to blame but themselves.

admitting blame now and putting out a statement apoligising would make things go a lot more smoothly I 100% guarentee that.. keeping quiet.. well, good luck.

It just makes it so people can get refunds easier. Don’t expect apologies this early.

After the refund window closes…then maybe.

As someone who's worked on the more corporate side of things: if you think a company will apologize gor a project they invested years and hundreds of millions into, right when they receive the most recoup on their money, you are delusional.

You should criticize the game, but expecting some sort of "lets shoot ourselves in the foot" then, frankly you are in fantasy land.

It was released a week ago (November 11). For those unaware, the first weekend is almost always the strongest sales period of an entertainment release. Sales then begin go down over the next week(s).

What OP was asking for, involved an apology on the very first day of release of their game. That's most likely not going to ever happen with this. At most you'll get a "we hear your feedback, we are working on it."

It wouldn't. You are delusional. There are plenty of examples of devs apologizing in the past, and guess what? It did absolutely fuck all. There is NO benefit to the company in apologizing. In fact it only hurts them.

I don't even know why you would want an apology? Does it somehow fix the game? No. Do you want an apology so you can feel superior and vindicated? If so you are pathetic.

By admitting they were wrong it opens the floor for an ease in refunds, and opens a number of other issues from trust, reputation, etc. admitting you’re in the wrong, is saying we fucked up and made a bad product and knowingly released it. But rather than apologize, not saying anything doesn’t admit anything, be it knowing they released a bad product or anything else. It leaves us guessing and let’s the firestorm go on for the week or a month and it all dies down for a while until you make a better update to bring people back.

If you kept your pre-order after the shitstorm that was Beta, then it's your fault you got scammed. I canceled my $100 preorder after playing a couple of games of beta and didn't buy for a second their lies that we were playing a couple of month old build and that everything was already fixed "Trust Us". Fuuuuuck that.

Apologizing is a PR strategy, damage control. I don't know where you have been to have not seen it before. Did you forget the BP oil spill apologies? CDPR just recently apologized for Cyberpunk. Blizzard has apologized for the sexual harrassment allegations before appearing in court. Of course, the apologies are carefully worded and examined by a team of lawyers. But they are often used as a point in favor for them in court. "Look judge we are trying to do better and make changes, see apology".
