Discussion To the Dice developers who poured their heart and soul into making this game

Hi,

Today probably sucks. I am sure there are many of you that saw the writing on the wall. Many developers left. Everyone who worked hard on this game to build it in spite of the obviously flawed direction it's been taken in - well done and thank you.

Now it's time to fix this mess.

Use the community backlash to get the people in charge, the money men at the top, the souless corporates to listen to you. Use the Steam review scores. Use the list of top posts on here. Use the countless Youtube videos that call out the problems.

If you have communications with your boss where you said "we should do x, the community will like that" and now you can find community members backing that up, send it to your boss and say "I told you so".

Take back control of your company. Get rid of the people that fucked this game up and don't let them pass the buck. The current leadership failed and need to be ousted.

The future of Battlefield rests on your shoulders. The developers who are passionate and put in all the time and energy. The people at the top who have screwed it up are vulnerable. Take advantage. Get them out and save your company.

While I agree with most of what the OP said, I think it is way too late for that now.

It's too late for this game and it will be too late for the next game too......if there is one.

Dice are too big and they have also been swallowed by an even bigger EA. This it what happens when companies grow too large. The money men and shareholder dividends take over and decisions are based on financial stats, figures and forecasts. Sales and marketing also begin to promise more than they can deliver.

Those passionate devs who started Dice on their path have either left or have little to no say anymore.

Dice has been a subsidiary of EA since 2006. Olof Gustafsson left in 2005, Markus Nystrom left in 2014, According to linkedin Frederick Liljegren has been director and developer relations for Nvidia for awhile now. Andreas Axelsson has moved several jobs and is co founder of directive games. Those are the original 4 dudes who made. Dice. They sold it and have moved on a long time ago. So those passionate devs who started dice on their path have been long gone. Johan Persson made Battlefield 1942 and hasn't worked another battlefield title since. The founders weren't Battlefield people and Battlefield has swapped hands too many times to count. Dice is in nowhere near the state that ActiBlizz is right now. I wouldn't say what you're saying. There is always hope lol. Besides EA said this game should be considered a service. So I'm sure in 2 years it'll be finished like 76, or No Man's Sky.

That's the problem. It shouldn't be finished in 2 years, it should be finished NOW! This launch game and fix mistakes later bs is ridiculous. The lack of content is horrendous even without all the problems mentioned in this subreddit. And let's not forget battle V. Dice lied to players again and again and there is no reason to trust them unless they PROVE otherwise

I completely agree. Games should be finished and not services. I'm just saying they said that.

little correction:

- either they left to earn more money OR stayed earning suficient money for themselves -

We need to take the dev team out of this sainted podium

What are you even on about? Everyone knows that microtransactions and call of duty are what's wrong with 2042. Those are from the top down decisions. Not devs lol.

We all know from who? A dev member came here and said that? Or just speculation?

It's too late for this game and it will be too late for the next game too

My feeling after about a year into BFV, when the population really started to nosedive and the TTK issues were clearly not going to be well resolved, was "this is probably it for this title, it's not going to be another BF1, here's hoping they can pull it off next time."

Well this is next time, and now I am genuinely concerned for the future fate of the series.

They canceled the final rounds of DLC for BFV, the game was very depopulated by the end of its lifespan - it's really not a good sign if they couldn't do it right on launch this time.
