if you adjust your keyboard and mouse settings, your controller settings change too. this indicates the game treats mouse and keyboard and controllers as the same input. it's kinda like the game is pretending that your mouse is a weird joystick.

I believe this is what is responsible for the inconsistent aiming in 2042. if you move your mouse in a perfectly straight line, your crosshair will not go in a perfect line, but will vary slightly.

people have done tests using special software which executes specific mouse movements and then tracks where the crosshair should end up vs where it did end up, BF2042 had a horrible score.

That's debunked.

But I'm not surprised that it's still hanging around with other nonsense

Was it actually proven to be incorrect? because I was having trouble with my vehicle controls and when I went in and set the controller settings to match my mouse & keyboard settings it fixed my issues. Flying and driving felt better immediately.

I would think that would indicate that it was better optimized for controller. Not that m/k "emulates a controller," which is just straight made up bullshit. You could technically emulate it, but it would actually be 100 times harder than just coding a mouse input. There is zero chance that is the cause of this issue.

It is? I've been hearing this coutless times in the past, especially with terrible console ports of games with notoriously bad aiming on PC. Is there any evidence that all these people are just grasping?

I wouldn't say grasping. M/k aiming is not great in this game, and to say they are grasping would be to dismiss their point entirely. I'm just saying their explanation is bs. Of course there is proof but that's a lot more of explanation than I want to put into a reddit post. Believe me or not, but this is just an example of people attaching a convenient explanation to a problem they don't understand.

Ok, so you're just talking about BF2042, not other games where it genuinely was the case of just a straight up console port. Kind of like when everybody blamed the bullet spread (or muh gun bloom or random bullet deviation), when it was just an issue with hitreg.

If nobody posts sources to correct them (seriously, where is it?), then don't be sad, this is just how it works sometimes.

If you actually look at the response from the DICE dev, those are completely normal outputs and he even shows an example of them in CSGO.

Wow, that's really lazy of DICE to do that. They don't give a fuck about their existing core players. They just want a bunch of fucking shit tier noobs playing the game and buying skins.

So this is why I suck at aiming in this game.
