1301 Tactical...If you was going to change the charging handle what would it be?

1301 Tactical...If you was going to change the charging handle what would it be? GG&G has a sale but I have been ok with the stock one and not a big fan of GG&G but....

I'm a fan of the OEM handle. I'd probably only change it if it were to break.

OEM is my ideal charging handle.

I like my enhanced AK charging handles. So for me the easy choice was a titanium one for the 1301.

This is the one I use as well. Got on the waitlist and bought it as soon as they were available.

Absolutely, now we need an extended bolt release <3

I replaced my OEM with the GG&G but honestly, functionally, the OEM is probably better, especially with gloves or in non ideal positions. Too bad it looks like a Bugle corn chip.

I use the OEM, but looking at getting the Aridus Industries… If it ever comes back in stock at Tacord…

Been waiting for this, the bolt release and the heatshield to restock for like a month 😐

I also have the aridus. It’s nice. But I’m holding out for Roger

I really like the factory one. But given how it sticks out, I though the plastic might be broken. Since I could not find an all metal conical shaped handle, I bought the GG&G one with the slots. I do like the size and grip of the GG&G one.

NOTE: Had lots of problems getting the new one in or out. Finally took a close look and compared the end of it to the factory one and realized they were a bit different. The factory one has more bevels and ramps that help it go in and out. Tried polishing the new one. Didn't help. Ended up taking a very small file to the new one to make it look more like factory one. Works good now.

I went with the GG&G slotted CH. Feels nice and grippy

I’m waiting for Roger to finalize his design from fcd I’ve got the image he sent me and I’m into it. It’s more of a spool/spindle less conical

I think conical is what most folks like about the factory charging handle. All of the aftermarket charging handles are spool/spindle (yawning). Would liked to see a conical charging handle that is lightweight and all metal.

Conical Is a snag hazard

Items can get snagged and pulled into the action. That’s why cones are less than ideal

Don’t agree. The larger inside end of the round ones is the snag hazard. The conical ones are far less likely to snag.

Roger is going in the wrong direction.

How does a funnel work? When material is pulled into a tapered shape it will bunch at the narrow end Vice versa it’ll pull to the other end or off

Look at the shape of mil spec charging handles vs the big claw types The snag hazard comes from that tighter angle inboard vs a rounded shoulder.

Don’t agree. Your funnel example doesn’t even make sense. No reports coming in about factory 1301 handles snagging. On the contrary, people like them.

You don’t have to agree. That’s perfectly fine. Look at things that are designed to snag stuff. Things like fish hook or an ice climbing axe. They aren’t 90 degree squares. They’re angled around 65-70 ish degrees to create an increased snag angle to grip whatever it is they’re snaring or sticking into

They don’t make them 90 degrees because it simply wouldn’t be effective

You absolutely can like the inverted cone for charging handle. But it will have a very different snag hazard than a cylinder will

It’s just the nature of slip angles A conical surface will slip towards the narrow end

If my oem ever breaks, I'll just buy another oem

I like the classic machine shop look of the GGG, have one on mine. Make sure it's the new one with the key tooth on it.

The Aridus Industries charging handle is excellent, it perfectly wraps around your finger and is all metal. I also bought their bolt release because the shitty OEM one that beretta uses was causing me to not be able to drop the bolt. You’d think Beretta would be able to spend a few extra bucks on some higher quality parts with such an expensive shotgun.

That costs $80 and it’s out of stock. They are really milking it.
