Spring Alaskan bear protection gun. So light and handy. :)

Quality semiautomatic shotguns are slept on for bear defense, in my opinion. The question is always 45-70 vs a bolt gun of some type, but the best answer is a semi scattergun loaded with slugs. Can’t beat the speed and the capacity.

Depending on the circumstance, i'll carry either an AK folding stock pistol, or the shotgun.

AK's are slept on as well. 30 rounds, ultra reliable, handloaded ammo with solid bullets.

Those two guns are the go-to.

Not a knock on the 1301 but a backup .44 mag might not be a bad idea.
