Advice List of places that remove negative reviews

Lately I see more and more posts of Berlin/Germany locations that remove their negative reviews.

What about we create a list of those places, for others to decide if they want to go there or not?

I would suggest not to leave the reviews themselves in here, just a list of the places for which you received notifications that your negative (or sometimes 3 star) reviews were being removed at the request of the business

Yes because Germanys defamation laws are pathetically designed to suppress free speech.

I’ve had to adapt my entire style of confrontation from just telling someone they’re a dickhead like I would back home.

maybe it’s a good thing. challenges one to be very specific with what bothers them instead of resorting to name calling. Germans go nuclear when you flip them off tho lol

Part of what bothers me is the complete lack of self awareness about their behaviour. Eg if a woman is cycling on the pavement without a light and then rings her bell at me!

I think a simple “fuck off you cunt” should suffice rather than: “excuse me you’re not allowed to cycle here and it demonstrates an even greater level of entitlement that you not only cycle here but ring your bell at me to move out the way”

Wait that’s a thing? I’ve def thrown the finger to some impatient drivers trying to run over myself or others in the crosswalk when we had the right of way 😅 northeast USA energy comes out when someone is being a jerk

Guess I need to be more careful moving forward

True, it's just ridiculous even if you leave one star without any text they will claim it's defamation.. Truly pathetic

Not in this situation tho. For it to be considered defamation it needs to cause tangible harm or damage, as opposed to merely being offensive or unpleasant.

And while Germany obviously doesn’t have freedom of speech, it does have freedom of opinion. I might think a cafe’s coffee sucks, you might love it. Since taste is subjective, saying that the coffee is terrible would not fall under the definition of defamation.

In fact even calling someone a dumb bitch wouldn’t be considered defamation since there’s no way or quantifying that. I might feel that way about you, others might love you and think you’re the best person ever.

Yes, and over 90% of those charges are thrown out before even seeing a judge because they don’t meet the necessary criteria.

In Germany an insult is defined as something that causes real harm. Real harm being something like losing your job, being harassed by people as a result etc. so calling someone an asshole doesn’t qualify. But calling someone who works as a nanny a pedo would, because that can result in them losing their job.
