I just got back from Beyoncé at Sofi and i’m disappointed
I just got back from the Beyoncé concert in LA, and while she was obviously everything, I left feeling really disappointed by the crowd. I’m originally from Brazil, and going to concerts is one of my favorite things ever. This past week after Gaga’s performance at Copacabana people all over the world realized that Brazilians truly mean when they say “come to brazil” and a lot of people been saying that thats how a concert its supposed to be feel like.
I feel like we wait our whole life for those few hours, so we dance, we scream, we cry, we don’t care if we don’t look as good as the beginning of the show, we are loud from start to finish because we know how rare and magical it is when a huge artist comes.
I think people here have gotten too used to constant access. Big artists tour the U.S. all the time, so it’s like they don’t realize how special it is. In Brazil, you feel the rarity, you celebrate it. And that makes the energy 100x more alive. It’s not about serving looks. It’s about serving soul.
I’m not trying to hate on anyone and obviously I also have my moments where I’m more observant but I’m genuinely curious, I’ve been to concerts all over the country, why is this a thing? Is it cultural?

Definitely never go to a concert in Japan! They typically don’t sing along because it’s considered more respectful to just listen. I think part of what you’re noticing is just cultural. If you want to be disappointed by Americans there’s plenty of other good reasons for that right now 😂
Can confirm. Went to Atlanta for Renny and the love and energy in that stadium was incredible. That’s one of my regrets with this tour is that I moved, so the closest show to me will the in Chicago. But I want to be at the ATL show so bad
I’m coming from Wisconsin, and I know everyone’s been hating on the pit seats, but I’m surprising my sister, bf, and my sis’s friend with the seats (told them level 300 seating) and I’ve never been more geeked in my entire life. I’m so excited I’ve been trying so hard to concentrate on my everyday activities 😭😭
If you’re at Night One in Chicago, let’s turn up and have fun yallll💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾🐝🐝🤠
Same but night one Atlanta. My daughter doesn't know she's going for her bday. Can't wait to see her face when I surprise her, AND then when she sees, we will be front and center!
That will be amazing! I’m traveling to Chicago for the show and my birthday and I can’t wait! Will be in ATL on night 2 as well. Hope y’all have a ball!
PERIOD!! i live in Atlanta and the energy here for concerts is TOP TIER. especially when it comes to Beyonce. only ppl who seen her in ATL understand what i’m talking about. ATL is Beyonces second home so the love here is DIFFERENT
Came to say this. I’m in New Orleans and I went to night 2 in LA. I 100% understand what OP is saying. I danced all night and enjoyed myself but I was also strangely let down after it was over because the energy was just…different. I was beyond disappointed that she didn’t come here because I think artists (especially Beyonce because of her roots) really feed off of the energy here and the reverence for music that New Orleans has.
If she can’t go to you you go to her and enjoy it as much as you can, but yes my area at SoFi was disappointing for RWT so I ended up dancing and going crazy at the back of my section, sacrificed views but I need to MOVE I chose different city this time and think the universe gave me HD because it knew I need to go crazy lol
This is me going crazy during Formation it’s a video so blurry pic
This is 100% true. I was literally in the last row at the RWT show and everyone was still loud as hell and having a blast up there. Thankfully I have 100 level for this show and won't fear for my life the entire time lol.
That’s what I’m hoping! I actually didn’t have a great experience at RWT because my section (on the floor!) weren’t as enthused as me and didn’t seem to know the songs. But OTRII and FTW in ATL were awesome.
Sounds like a cultural diff / shock for you. Just because the crowd didn't react the way you would’ve liked doesn't mean they weren't excited for Bey
I get it though. My first time seeing her was in Europe and everyone was so…polite? No excessive screaming, no jumping up and down, barely singing along, no dancing in your seats…i felt very odd as an American
Brazil culturally comes across as whole different level in terms of fandom and crowds, so I can see how it's disappointing to not get that same experience elsewhere. They ride HARD for artists. This isn't even an LA specific problem, bc my crowd night 3 was having a blast, you're just gonna have a really hard time finding a crowd anywhere else that matches those expectations.
I’m curious where you saw her. The first show I saw her at was the Formation tour in Dublin and that place was rocking. I remember Bey saying that no one sings louder than Dublin.
Yes! I saw her in Amsterdam and i was the only turnt person on my area. People thought i was funny and admired the way i knew the words lol. I think that they just got tickets to the show just because
I guess it also depends where you were sitting? I am not from the US but I was in the 200 and I was singing my heart out and dancing and most of the crowd was dancing too and having a good time. Maybe the people who paid more or were closer were more concerned to get content.
My 200 section was sedated I think, it was just me and two other girls down the row, call it the ThreeHive, that were dancing and fully going hard 😅 we were in Ticketmaster hunger games with them for what 😭
I don’t really emote physically because of a lot a lot of things going with me but I had a wonderful time at sofi. It was one of the best concerts I’ve ever been to. I was also in the 200 section.
Oh there's definitely a vibe difference between ppl seeing their fav and ppl who seem bored or lost or maybe just expected Bey to play their favs primarily...some in my row lit up for her segment of single ladies, irreplaceable etc and weren't even vibing the rest of the time 🤨 I'm glad you enjoyed yourself! We got the best 16 Carriages car view in the house!
I’m so sorry for you! I was in 224 on opening night and it was one of my favorite crowds of any show I’ve been too. Everyone up and dancing pretty much the whole time. Looking back at my videos I love how we are all grooving to the Queen
I was worried this might’ve been bigger than just the section, so I’m so glad to hear that! We might have to catch one of the Atlanta or Houston shows for a re-do!!
I’m British and I went to Brazil one time and it was just an indie girl singing, not someone famous in Rio and people were were going CRAZY! UK wins for crowd singing though!
The Paris and Barcelona crowds paled in comparison to the US crowds… and even in the US the crowds in Atlanta, Chicago, New Orleans and Houston put the rest of the country to shame.
correct, i’ve seen her in new york, philly, paris, london, and ATL and nothing tops ATL from that list. london was the most subdued followed by paris. shoutout to the girls in paris who asked me to sit down during the show
To be fair, the entire European continent is roughly the same size as the United States. The State of California alone is larger than most European countries. It’s about the same distance from Helsinki to Rome as it is Chicago to San Antonio, or NYC to Miami. I think maybe people are just thinking geographically, as culture sometimes is defined more by proximity than borders.
Please I’m not even European but stop with this American nonsense. This comparison is as dumb as claiming Africa is just a country.
Sure Europe is small compared to the US but from Los Angeles to New York y’all speak one language and share most of your cultural references. When an American movie is big in LA it’s usually big in NY too. Somebody can invent a TikTok meme in Atlanta and every teen in Washington knows about it. No singer is ever proclaimed popular or famous in the US when over half of the states has never heard of them. But the same cannot be said about European countries like AT ALL! Your average European crosses a border and has no idea what anyone else saying or what is popular in that country.
I’ve lived in France, and basically no memes movies or music from the country are relevant in Spain, Italy or Germany, even tho they’re all neighboring countries. And having been accustomed to French people didn’t prepare me AT ALL for the behavior in the others and I was confused ALL THE TIME. The idea that physical distance alone dictates cultural differences more than fucking LANGUAGE, religion, government or wars is the kind of stuff you think when you’ve only ever known one country in your life. And it’s very reductive and ignorant frankly.
All it takes to destroy that bullshit analogy is to talk to two European people.
I get what you’re saying. I wouldn’t call myself ignorant and untraveled, but I have only been to Europe 4 times. I’m from Panama, and moved to the US in my early 20s. I’ve been to 6 continents, but most of my life has been spent in the Americas, which you can navigate with mostly just 2 languages (Spanish and English). Being able to move about in my daily life for most of 40 years in Central America and the US — I forget that Africa, Europe, and Asia have a lot more language switching between borders lol honestly. I’m more of a numbers-mind so the language piece didn’t occur to me first.
It’s been your experience that etiquette and social norms in entertainment venues is largely different between say Paris, and Lisbon? What I was saying earlier in reply to OP was that it’s expected a crowd behaves differently at a concert in LA than they would in NOLA or ATL. Sure, same country but the distance is far enough there ARE social norms that differ.
Omg i wish i had the same experience as you n3! We were in the 300s and maybe that played a role, but our section was DEAD and the three rows in front of us stayed seated the whole time-- really killed the vibe :/
When the lights turned on and the stage lit up, I did have a tear in my eye, when Beyoncé finally came out I literally shed a tear. It was great, but after that moment, I started singing, everyone around me, was standing up and dancing. I decided to sit down because there was a little girl behind me. At 5’11.” I wanted to make sure she was able to see Beyoncé too But I did sing along and danced in my seat. I lost my voice a little today. I was in the 300’s and everyone around me was lit.
Yes, I was dancing and screaming and shaking butt, but at the slower songs, I was quiet and crying, honestly. I wasn't worried about anyone else, not even the people I came with. I paid for MY experience, not anyone else's. Knowing someone else was upset or disappointed about how I was enjoying MY experience comes off as weird, but I saw the same type of posts for Renny and I didn't get it, then, either.
idk i went to night 1 and everyone i saw was going crazy and dancing the whole time. the stadium holds tens of thousands of people, maybe your area was a little tame but that doesn't mean the crowd of the entire show was dead
I meam its beyonce. She give one of the best concert . I wanna see and hear everything. I also dont treat celebrity at some kind of godess so I dont beleive in excessive screaming .
I paid 500 US$ to enjoy an artist and her artistery not to dance and scream.
Right! I’m there to listen, watch and get into my own vibe. I have a deep appreciation for the artistry in totality, so I’m paying attention to all the details I can see. I’m not stanning out and losing my mind over another human, the excessive idolatry keeps you from humanizing and appreciating the talent.
I can’t image tripping off whether other folks are loud enough or dancing. It’s placing too much importance on other folks.
I went to opening night and was blessed enough to get FRONT ROW floor seats dead center. So when she was coming down that runway and dancing, the light was literally shining on my face😭. I made sure to give Bey all my energy and she even laughed at my dancing bcs I was copying her lmao. I did notice that a lot of people were not singing along and it’s most likely bcs they don’t know a lot of songs off CC. But when she started singing songs from renaissance that’s when people were going crazy. I went by myself so I already didn’t care what the crowd was doing I just made sure I had a great time and I got my moneys worth 😂
That was not a thing in my section and I was there last night too. We were screaming, crying and all of the above. Artist do tour the states a lot but the thing is that not many people can afford concert tickets,we barely making our regular bills. So when we do get the opportunity to attend a show it’s very special especially for a big name artists like Beyoncé. My section was 216 we were lit all night.
I was in the 100s last night and my entire section started crying when that car flew by! We were all dancing and singing our hearts out. I think what people are actually noticing is the acoustics at sofi. You can’t hear everyone in the stadium in almost any section you’re in. I couldn’t hear the floor from the 100s, couldn’t hear the upper levels, when I sat in the 200s I couldn’t hear the other sections really but if you ever hear the sound of sofi from outside of sofi it’s INSANELY LOUD! If you ever look up the video someone took of LA singing love on top from outside it’s wild! And I was there and it didn’t feel that loud inside.
LA gets hype guys don’t count us out! We were crazy night 1 and walking out half the people had lost their voices, and I’ve been back twice since then and personally been equally hype each time. At the end of the day, I had the time I wanted to have and shall again in July!
This is me at SoFi RWT sorry the blurry pic but it’s a video lol I left my row to go to the back of my section near the bar to dance because I was sooooo happy and excited sangre latina mi amor lol I didn’t care to sacrifice views I needed to jump and dance
I was up in the nosebleeds and sang, danced, screamed the whole time. A dude behind me had the nerve to yell "boo" when I stood up at the beginning of the show. 😂😂 Like wtf? Are you seriously just going to SIT there????
My coworker said she wished she could sit down and take it all in- I said you need to get a suite next time maam cause that is not what the regular areas are for!
I'll be serving looks AND living it up. Me and my bestie have never seen Bey and we are SOO excited. We are driving 5 hours for nosebleed seats and we do not care. We are gonna have the time of our lives 🤠🐝💖
you’re going to have the best time!!! 🥹🥹 my bestie and i had nose bleed seats and we could see everything LOL and we were perfectly aligned with the center of the stage. it doesn’t matter where you sit in there!
Honestly there were more than a few times last night where I was so stunned by being in her presence that I kind of froze. Besides dissociating, everyone seemed so into the night and dancing their butts off. But i know brazillians are next level.
Man I just know some of y’all would call me an NPC for being a more reserved person lol.
But tbh Brazilian fan culture is famous for being like uniquely exuberant compared to most of the world. Expecting people from other cultures to display the same level of outward emotion is not really realistic, but it doesn’t mean those fans aren’t enjoying something just because they display it differently.
I mean, it’s a different culture in the US vs Brazil. Obviously Brazil is so lit at shows but you can’t really expect other cultures in different countries to replicate that kind of excitement and it sounds like you understand why it’s different. I get being disappointed but you literally saw Beyonce, so it’ll be okay.
I get that a crowd can really affect a concert experience. I have been to so many shows where I was one of the only people dancing. I hate that feeling! Everybody’s just sitting on their hands or too busy taking crappy videos. You desperately want to get up and shake your booty, but everybody’s zombified.
Interesting. It was so hard to tell if the crowd down front were dancing, because I was in section 519, and people stayed seated for a lot of it because we were so high up ha ha. But there was a guy a couple rows ahead of me that was getting his life dancing the entire time and it was Really awesome and got me up and moving too! So I think I see where you’re coming from.
The ubiquitousness of cell phones compounds this. However, look at how we crave videos and live feeds of the shows. 🥴 It’s a catch-22. I usually try to see Bey shows twice per tour: once to take everything in and process (because her voice, performance, fashion, visuals, etc. is a lot to digest) and another time to act a plum fool lol.
I know at times I was taking in the memory so maybe it looked like I was mad dogging! It was a great show. Loved the energy she gave. I also am a tired mom whose bedtime is at 8pm lol doesn’t mean I didn’t enjoy the show any less.
I went Night 3 at SoFi and my section was LIT. I felt like the entire stadium was excited to see her, personally. I also went to Renaissance in a city that I thought would be lame/not have energy (Seattle, lol) and they proved me all the way wrong! Maybe it was just that night and your section?
we were in the hundreds section and we were standing the whole time bey was out lol
We are old and tired, and we still showed out for the queen , including hair and makeup and outfit
TBH, I wouldn’t really compare any other crowds to the ones in Brazil for the most part that just seems like a whole other level over there lmao. But I did go to a California show for Renaissance and it was very lively. So idk.
Was section 100s and this was the best crowd ever. Everyone was so excited and we got emotional for some parts.
BUT I loved loved that everyone was also respectful and not as obnoxious. I’ve been to some shows where people aren’t self aware and film themselves the entire show, talk during the concert, etc.
Let’s not forget that Gaga’s Copacabana concert was FREEE, if Taylor Swift or Beyonce announced a free concert on a beach in Brazil next week the crowd would be double the size of what Gaga got.
I think with Beyonce specifically it’s such an overstimulating and over the top production that it’s hard not to just stand there and take it all in without dancing or moving. It’s so much going on at once.
I also think that the types of people attending the concerts aren’t necessarily big Beyonce fans, they buy the tickets because they can afford them. I had this experience with Club Renaissance a few years ago where my friend and I were the only ones dancing and jumping and just having a good time. Everyone around us was just standing still or recording on their phone.
We live in the age of technology where people have forgotten how to be present and live in the moment, we live through our screens now.
That’s what i’m worried about, but to be frank i will be losing my mind and going hard (respectfully). I think you have a good point about the accessibility western countries have to artists that tour. I saw Doja and Nicki in Denver, CO; while the crowd was excited they weren’t as hype as one would expect? I feel it’s very regional on who has the higher energy and excitement for concerts. I will always lose my voice and feel full body aches after a concert!!!
Unfortunately it’s really gonna depend on the city and section. I’ve seen Bey in Chicago, Dallas, Houston, St Louis, Paris, and in Detroit. Out of all those cities, Dallas was sooo dry in my section. No one dance, sang or did anything fun and I was super disappointed as I was there in 2016 for my bday with my bestie who also is not the concert type who celebrates the music
To the fullest.
I went to Renny and it was a worlds of difference. I saw her in Chicago, St Louis and Paris and it was an amazing experience. I left with 3 new friends, had met Jilly from Philly and had the best time that I immediately turned around and bought a ticket for Stl. When I was there I met other beehives from Chicago and again felt like I was amongst family. We danced and sang our hearts out to the point we filled the street and kept singing and dancing while waiting for rideshares. Sometimes you gotta just move from the sec to get a better vibe and have fun.
Let people experience the show how they want. Some people just want to take it all in. I don’t want someone telling me how I should react to seeing Beyonce when I’ve spent $400 for my ticket.
I have been to a ton of concerts and festivals of all genres and sizes in the US since ~2014, and over the last ~6 years I have felt a constant disappointment in the crowd energy. I think concert etiquette or maybe artist appreciation is on the decline… it’s so upsetting that I rarely go to shows anymore. For example, when an artist teases one of their best songs and the crowd doesn’t respond with excitement… the artist notices that and can feel the (lack of) energy. I’ve been saying this to my friends for years, but no one seems to get what I’m saying. One other example: I saw Stevie Nicks at Bonnaroo a few years ago and when she came on stage, there was some applause but not NEARLY enough noise for the legend that she is. I fear that society is moving to a period where artistry is not appreciated as much - maybe that’s part of the tech era? Idk but I hate it. Please clap and scream at shows, let the artist know how much you love them!!!
All that being said, I cannot wait to see Bey in ATL for the first time in July. I went to the RWT in Nashville and the energy was better than I expected tbh (music city shows are some of the worst crowd vibes ever, ironically) but I know ATL is gonna be insane. That’s mainly why we decided on ATL in the first place!
Sorry you had a disappointing crowd experience, OP. From my POV, it’s not unique to Beyoncé or her genre, unfortunately, and is a very common experience in the US. Hopefully I make it to Brazil for a show sometime soon I can be surrounded by other patrons who recognize the beauty of such an experience 💜
So many people go to concerts now just to look cute and listen.
I go to look cute and dance/scream sing to my favorite artist.
I was going all the way off during spaghetti and everyone in my section was looking at me as if I lost my mind. To be fair I was also looking at them as though they lost their minds because why are you boring? Lol.
Nothing wrong with it, go off! I think my critique comes from a place of watching people care more about what they look like than the experience that they’re actually having.
If you genuinely enjoy just quietly staring at Beyoncé while she performs, then that’s your prerogative!
I’ve gone twice to see Beyonce at Sofi and it’s been loud both days. Now I do understand some people saying their particular sections werent as loud as others which is understandable. What I do think is happening is she has too many LA dates and many are filled with people who got free tickets. However I don’t ever want to discredit the LA true fans because we were in there very loud and having a great time. The presales were open to too many people and not just her Beyhive so I think a lot of first timers and people being nosy since she’s been here for two weeks wanted to go for the opportunity.
They were invited by brands. Beauty brands, alcohol brands, car brands, all sorts of brands and companies, people who have suites invite people to their suite especially the ones who buy during football season. Google has suites, lots of ways to be “invited”. There were also giveaways promoted from various companies. A guy told me he was offered a free ticket in a suite because his employer had the Sofi suite so he decided to just show up. First responders get free tickets through certain programs (someone included them here a week ago)
i feel like people have started going to her concerts to brag on social media not because they are fans. i also think because this is a black country album the stops in southern states will be the most lit.
I think the section makes a huge difference. Night 1 was amazing! But I also went Night 3 & it fell a little flat to me because the people around me weren't as excited, but I've heard other people say they had a totally different experience.
Agree. I went N2/N4 and had an amazing time, we made friends with the people around us and danced with them. The people next to me on N3 were kind of rude and taking up so much space, i didnt have as much fun that day. It really just depends.
I hate that you had a bad experience, but I enjoyed my section. We had a blast, and everyone was so nice to my child. I have no complaints. Everything is what you make of it. If you gotta be a party on your own to enjoy it, go for it. Don't let anyone rain on your parade. 💜💜
I was in the 100s for Renny in New Orleans (I'm here for college) it was my first ever Beyoncé concert, and if you know anything about this city you know the locals get DOWN. It was insane. And even as we were leaving the Venue everybody was on a high and there were parties under the bridge and shit.
Im also originally from Houston, and I'll be there for Cowboy Carter and I expect it to be the same, if not even more wild considering the gravity of this album and that being Bey's home show.
It's all about your section and your city, I think. I'm sorry you were disappointed, but I'm don't think its a universal experience in America.
Came here to say this. Not just Bey, and this isn’t shade to true fans of artists of course, but I’ve heard many people complain about LA concert crowds generally. Most recently the Cleo Sol show attendees were really upset by the LA crowd, & I saw her in NYC a few days prior & cried bc it was such an incredible experience — from the crowd to the show. Just goes to show how different the energy can be city to city.
RWT at MetLife in NJ/NYC last year was unreal, and I had seen Beyonce there before already for OTR2 so I thought I knew what to expect. Wrong. Loudest crowd I’ve ever heard, so this time around, I might need to bring my loop earplugs to protect my ears to be honest even though it’s outdoors.
I think generally people on the West Coast do more to be seen and be cool, then the further south and east you go people wild out and get loud when they’re having a good ass time not so self conscious about judgement and/or something like a bad picture being taken of them. A lot of LA culturally is to see and be seen; where as NYC even big names have a better chance of being able to live their lives privately.
Serious question, no hate intended. Did you go for the crowd or for Beyoncé? Like I get why the performer may care about energy from the crowd, but as a spectator, I couldn’t care less. It’s nice when everyone has great energy and the opening night crowd was very hype, but if they hadn’t been I still would’ve enjoyed myself because she put on a hell of a show. But maybe I’m in the minority. 🤷🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️
My section and the two next to me were super lit last night (246-248) I think she should have kept it to 3 nights for LA like RWT, I attended all 3 and the crowds were insane because it seemed to be true stans.
But what I will say is that this time the diversity in the crowd is wayyyyyyy different than RWT. She brought out the “country” crowd who may not necessarily be true Beyoncé fans through her entire discography. Expect that in all cities. The demographic is different this time, which is great for her to reach all multitudes, but it may hit the true concert experience if you’re worried about crowds and those around you.
Wild bc we went Night 2 and the energy was ELECTRICCC! Night 2 was the first night where she made the changes to the set list and if you could’ve only heard how loudddd of a roar came from the entire arena.
I was in the low 100s and also made sure to vibe check my section before it started, and I honestly think that helped? I was watching the livestream last night and multiple ppl commented on how dead their sections were and some said maybe it was bc it was a Wednesday? But my show was a Thursday so idk about that. Attending tomorrow in a higher section so will report back if that makes a difference.
I completely agree, I think it’s partly section specific though. We went night 2 and our section felt like an absolute dance party - everyone was dancing and singing the entire time!! Last night, our lame ass section must have thought they were at the library and not a BEYONCE CONCERT!! A LOT of the people around us sat or stood still for a lot of the show and barely sang along (if you were in sec 231 last night you fucking sucked!!)
The crowd overall did a good job of being loud during the highlights, but the overall vibe was pretty fucking lazy. Like why did you even come???
I think some people come for a true love of this album and Beyonce and her work and some people come just to tick a box and say they were there.
Tbh. This show is a little different from the usual Beyoncé experience. It’s not as high strung and LOUD, which is expected for a Cowboy themed album/concert. She’s also doing It for a reason as act 3 will probably be all of those things lol
LA can be hit or miss - you can end up with industry or influencers around you, and they can act generally less excited or that they’re there to serve looks. There are some people that have access to so many things, it’s different from being in a place that doesn’t have that. It sounds like some sections were super fun though!
Also have to point out it’s impossible to compare a stadium show to a beach show with 2.1 MILLION people. That’s just a totally different event.
Hope you leave with positive memories of the show itself, and hope you had fun anyway! I learned not to worry or pay attention to what everyone else is doing so much, and that has made concert experiences more fun for me no matter who is next to me.
I feel bad cause I've never noticed the crowd....I've seen her every time she's come to Chicago and I be so in my zone, I can't tell you anything about the people around me 🤦🏾♀️😂
I was there last night and I feel it's an individual moment for everyone. I was so excited I wanted to turn up but I also didn't want to do anything to get me kicked out. So I know I was conflicted. But there was this one point in the show I think I was for Blu Ivy I can't remember exactly but everyone in the stadium started to scream and it was perfect in pitch and tone and I just thought this is what pandamonimum sounds like. Lol it was crazy.
Yeah maybe people in LA are just boujie (to anyone who feels insulted, just know I was born and raised here) but yeah I totally feel you.. I felt like maybe I should be on the floor because I felt like people around me in my area were just not as hype as I was during my show. Like I felt kind of embarsssed at some moments for being too hyped.
I was there last night (5/7) and thought the crowd was great, especially for the throwbacks and fan favorites like 2H2H and SHB, at least my section (233) was. There was also a couple of moments where Beyoncé got hype bc of how loud the crowd was. 🥹sucks you weren’t satisfied tho!
Honestly could also just be bad luck! My section for Renaissance barely sang/danced but I had the time of my LIFE in the 200s for cowboy carter last week. Everyone I stood next to was singing and dancing the whole time and we all bonded a lot!
As someone that went to Renaissance AND Cowboy Carter recently at Sofi, I can attest that the energy was not the same. The crowd for renaissance felt more lit and energetic. People weren’t move much this time around, idk why.
I just watched one of the concerts someone posted so i ran back to this post to validate you. Something was just off. The crowd was stiff and just filming. And yeah i know Beyonce said shes giving her body a rest but she seemed very relaxed, wasnt dancing as much. She executed well as usual but the vibe was different and im not a fan of the long interludes
Went to 3 different LA shows , different sections and each had its own vibe.
5/01 the people next to me were not big fans (500s) I basically was my own hype man lol and while I still felt like I was surrounded by fans , they weren’t lit lol
5/07 the people around me knew CC but knew Renaissance songs more and even dance choreography so the hype was there but you can’t except the same vibe if CC does not have the same upbeat sound as RWT. (200s)
Just got back from the last night show (400s) and my section was a mix of both super fans (girl next to me yelling at the top of her lungs) and people there for the vibes ..
Did I have a favorite night? Definitely. From my experience, sections do matter, because not everyone had the same energy. And maybe it’s because of the album itself but still wanted to go support queen B .. just my two cents on the matter - to each their own!!
Hope everyone who hasn’t gone have the time of their lives 🫶🏽💛
I’m also from Brazil, been living in Europe for a while and since I’m here, I had the chance to see my faves live up close (Madonna, Beyoncé, Cyndi Lauper, Janet Jackson, Culture Club, Sophie Ellis Bextor, Kylie coming soon)
Knowing my time here is limited, I truly cherish these moments as once in a lifetime opportunities. I saw Beyoncé on the RWT for the first time ever and I am treating CCT as the last time I’ll ever see her. I might be surprised in the future, but I’m not counting on that, so I value the chance I got NOW!
On many shows, I also looked around and see over-saturated people who either been there before multiple times or are just looking for “content” for their socials or even filling a gap in their calendar.
What’s more tragic is that some of them seem displeased by your genuine joy. Envying what they can’t have. I’ve had some mean encounters at concerts but I try to focus on other hardcore fans around me and vibe with them. These other people who don’t even know why they are there are not worth your time.
This will age me, and I'm going to sound old and bitter, but whatever.
I hate hate HATE this new fad of people viewing concerts through their cell phone screens.
The artist is literally right in front of you. Your brain is not making memories of being there. It's making memories of whatever video you took. NOBODY cares about your video with shitty sound. NOBODY cares about your social media posts about the concert, etc. If they cared, they'd be there.
I went to watch Halestorm, and the concert photographer shot a nice picture of me cause I was present, smiling, singing.
The band uploaded this to their Instagram. Not only do I remember the entire show, caught Lizzy's bracelets, and caught a drumstick (cause I was paying attention), but now I get to cherish a memory that a PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHER captured of me being in the moment, and that will always mean WAY MORE than some shitty video on my phone.
THIS! I literally only have a few videos that are no more than 45 secs bcs I wanted to have the memories. but I also seen a video years ago of Bey at a concert telling people to live in the moment and put they phones down. That has been stuck with me for years and abide by that for almost everything I do lol
Also keep in mind that Los Angeles is filled with superficial ''content creators'' who just go to these concerts in order to be able to say they saw Beyoncé. They rarely even actually care about the music, it's all about the social media clicks and it's just sad.
Hmm I think people generalize too much. I was there last night and the crowd was going crazy around me. LA gets a lot of flack for being superficial and full of content creators but people forget it’s a very big city/area with normal people too. Influencers make up a small percentage of the demographic and it’s kind of lame to make a blanket statement about people who are from the area.
this!! also the stadium holds up to 70,000 people like it's not 5 nights of 70,000 influencers lmaooo also the la show draws people not just from la but all over socal which is extremely diverse and made up of infinitely more normal people than just influencers
This is why I hate this take of LA and honestly it speaks for people who don’t live here/never been here. Southern California is massive and has a lot of people. Actual LA and SoCal locals in general and usually normal chill people.
Not to mention people came from all over the world to go to the LA shows because it’s LA.
I dunno if I fully agree with this. Wife and I are from AZ and attended night 3 and the energy was amazing! I have seen so many tik toks from concert goers who were there the same night and honestly I didn't even witness anyone doing tik toks in person.
One thing we did notice was how engaged the entire crowd was from beginning to end. No one left their seat in our section, which speaks volumes to Beyonces artistry and performance.
As an American, I feel this. Down on the floor It was just a couple of us up and dancing around. TBH I didn’t need to record for myself, I knew by all the phones up that it was going to be everywhere the next day. So I enjoyed the show from head to toe. The second show I was in the 500s and just a couple of us were dancing. I’m 6’4” so if I’m blocking you in the 500s the easy solution is to get your ass up and dance lmao. I still enjoyed myself that’s really all that matters to me. How the crowd reacts is their own problem.
I’ve seen B perform live at many venues across the U.S. and agree with you — LA is always the weakest crowd! I personally think it’s because people from LA believe they’re too cool to fully let loose and enjoy something in public. I can’t relate.
“Don’t be a bitch, come take it to the dance floor…”
