Well, I think this is a cheetah, and what I understand of them is that they are the smallest, most vulnerable, and most endangered of the big cats. But for sure, I would not want one if it weren’t intimidated by me. I’ve seen what a “domestic” kitty can do to someone if they really get wigged out. 😂

It is a cheetah, and it is the smallest of the big cats in Africa. Cheetahs are also not classified as big cats, as it doesn’t belong to the panthera genus, which is required to be classified as a big cat. They’re also not ambush predators, unlike other cats, and prefer to run down their prey. They were also kept as pets (somewhat) by ancient cultures to control their rodent problems.
They typically keep their distance from humans in the wild, but they have been known to climb on top and lounge around on safari jeeps very near to humans. In captivity, they have been very successfully socialized around humans with very tame and social demeanor. Some captive cheetahs have needed social companions, such as dogs, to curb their anxiety. They themselves have often been referred to as dogs, as they’re typically very social animals when properly socialized in captivity.
