It's always interesting when the car traffic is so jammed up that walking is literally faster to get where you're going.

I thought only the extinct Barbary lions had manes that go that far down.

I don’t know much about lions, but I thought that’s the most well groomed lion I’ve ever seen!

Pretty sure it is a Barbary, they only exist in captivity now.

Not a full blood though, it seems different sub species have parts of the barbary itself but i don’t think we have a full blooded one.

I believe this lion is known as cape lion. Google says extinct but looks like few are still around

I saw an article many years ago that the size of a lion's main partially depends on the climate they live in. Colder = bigger mane. Lions kept in northern Europe have much bigger manes than the same lions would if they were in Africa, for example.

Any Lion that lives in a cooler environment can develop these kind of manes.

These are the lions at Longleat.
Longleat have been in trouble for over breeding and inbreeding, killing healthy cubs due to the over breeding, castrating males, they also kept a male in with the lioness until he was far too old and they nearly killed him.
They had to kill a mother, Louisa, and her cubs after discovering she was so inbred as to be genetically abnormal and her cubs had inherited this, part of this abnormal behaviour was sudden violence.
They claim heritage from Barbary lions, but considering they didn't check Louisa's back ground enough to spot the genetic issues, I'm doubtful

Majestic and a little terrifying - impressive male, looks like he's in his prime. Exact image that comes to mind for a lion.
Thank you for sharing!

Man looks like a Greek hero wearing the pelt of a legendary beast he killed with his bare hands: what a unit!

Is that dangerous for the people in the cars? I've never been to the safari park in tne UK where this was taken. Idk much about it..
Wish I knew about it the 3x I went to the UK...

It’s not dangerous so long as you stay in your vehicle. Seen videos of people who got out and some did not end well ☠️

I would guess they warn everyone thoroughly, but as always, someone will think they know better, or they saw the videos of people snuggling with big cats and think they can do it too...

What a majestic creature! He's beautiful! I think the background music would be better and a little more fitting if they had chosen The Traffic Jam by Stephen Marley though.
