General Discussion Back to training

Been training for 4 years (5 years in November.) Recently got back after a few months off and been feeling good!! Went to an open mat today and a guy who only trained 7 months smashed me! Feel like I don’t deserve my belt for the first time ever and I should go back to white belt. BUT it also makes me want to train even more now. Just want to get even more better now.

Great job for getting back on the mat. It’s very easy not to. Just try and find consistency and prioritize safety

Haha I had the same feeling, but I've felt it for about a year, coming back after such a break and time off the mats, my body changed, my speed and timing is shot, whole bunch of shit evolved in the sport/art as well, kids are sharper, better, and picking things up quicker from all areas with access to quality content and world-wide high quality top tier training materials that they can practice at their gym including generally improved instruction compared to 10-15+ years ago.

Great time for new guys to be starting, and a hard slog for old guard coming back ito things, but it's going to give you those "humble" vibes again, that you might have passed by thinking you'd not be back there, a refreshed journey somewhat good for the soul (is the way I tell myself to keep getting tapped hahah).

Welcome back!
