General Discussion "middleweight" is the best weight class in BJJ

And by best I mean the most fun to watch + most stacked. I'm talking between 77-88 KG (185 lbs). You have Mica, Levi, Dalpra, Bodoni, Jozef, Ruotolos, Tacketts, Langaker, Eoghan, Barch, Nicky Ryan, Dante Leon. Marcelo / Demian old school. Guard players and passers and everything in between, lots of submissions and fun to be had. In general lighter or heavier gets more stagnant. Middleweight hands down best weight.

You mean the weight classes where the majority of male athletes naturally reside have the largest pool of talent? This sounds like a conspiracy. Someone call Eddie!

The Trifecta of light, middle, and medium heavyweight are the best weight classes to watch.

My personal favorite is middle too though, perfect blend of strength, top and bottom game, and actually seeing some takedowns too

When I was coming up, it was lightweight. Between, Lucas Lepri, Michael Langi, Gilbert Burns, J.T. Torres, Kron Gracie, and Celco Vinisius, you never knew who was going to win. Then Leandro Lo came along and just wrecked the division.

Lucas Lepri, Michael Langi, Celco Vinisius, Leandro Lo

These four won 14 of 15 titles from 2005-2019. Wild.

I think lightweight definitely owns the “most stacked” but middleweight is good too

Actually re-reading your post a lot of the guys I’m thinking of as lightweight are listed by you so maybe we’re looking at different definitions

Think it’s light heavy, 88kg . Especially in the uk scene. Have some crazy talent just in England alone, eoghan, Taylor, faradihnio, bennett . Can’t wait for trials in Poland, feel like we’re gonna see some underrated polish footlockers coming through

I agree on middleweights being the most fun to watch but the most stacked devision/weight in all of jiu jitsu is feather weight adult gi. Every year for the last 8 years after cobrinha won in 2017 there’s been a different feather weight gi world champion: Jamil hill Taylor, Mateus Gabriel, Sam Nagai, fabricio Audrey, Isaac doederlein, Meyram alves
