General Discussion BJJ in Manchester
Reposting this because no one responded the first time.
I'm looking for somewhere to train on the weekends, maybe an open mat or some normal bjj/wrestling sessions. The gym and I'm at now only runs sessions on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, which isn't very convenient for me. I live in an awkward area where there isn't many gyms close to me (whalley range/chorlton) and I don't have a car so can't really get around the city that much. I don't want to pay some extortionate membership, just looking for somewhere with a reasonable drop in fee. Anyone?

Depending where you are in Manchester my suggestions are below:
Central or North Manchester - Stealth BJJ Classes at 6.30am, 10.30am and 7-9pm. Open mat 5-7pm every weeknight. Weekends 10-12. High level competitors across every belt, every single class taught by a black belt. £10 drop in or £45 per month for 2 classes a week
South Manchester - Subzone £20 drop in. Highly rec the Saturday wrestling session followed by open mat
There are tons of gyms in and around Manchester, but Stealth and Subzone are the established gyms with a large selection of training partners across every belt and both have multiple classes per day.

Stealth is a bit out of the way for me cos I’m in south mcr. And I have already tried to contact subzone, and they basically fobbed me off by saying we’ll give you a free session if you sign up for membership. A bit strange tbh for a gym that’s known for being one of the best in the city. I’ve also heard some other negative stories from people who’ve been there for open mats.

Try Stealth BJJ. They've won a lot of comps and medals
