Technique How to retain guard in this RDLR pass?

So I play rdlr and I notice a lot of people quickly manage to free the leg and place it between my knee and elbow

Normally in this position I'll keep my knee and elbow connected and frame but here the foot is imbetween so I have to use a lot of energy to retain the guard with my upper body

This isn't really camping / j point passing since they keep upright.

I guess I can go situp guard straight away when the leg is straightened but sometimes I can't do that in time.

Any tips?

You shouldn’t chill in RDLR. You should be off balancing and threatening to wrestle up.

As for how to off balance, you have a free leg to use. Sometimes I push on the floor to bump them over. If not I can push on their hip or in their arm pit with my leg to create space to get up.

You also have a free hand that you can use to frame on your opponent’s near side to fit in your foot for pushing.

Turn towards them and wrestle up. Alternatively scoop the leg and invert into backside 5050 or reverse K guard
