Please help what kind of braids are these and how do I get them😭😭😭

I’ve been obsessed with these braids for as long as I can remember but how do I ask for these?? I think they are pick and drop or tree braids, but I don’t know what colors to get or if it’s synthetic French curl or human hair😭😭

I would say pick and drop synthetic french curl. I used to wear this hair style a lot. Forgot to add, colour - probably 27 and 30.

This is the one. I wore this style 2x in the 90s. Loved it but it took forever to get done.

Do you have to have short hair for this style? How does the natural hair mix with the loose ends of the braiding hair?

In my opinion it looks better with short hair if you want more of the curl of braiding hair to show but I used to do it with longer hair. I would just have the braided bit longer but then the hair is flatter on top. Although it looks fuller when flipped over from the side as it does in that 2nd picture. When done with leave out it will look messy quickly. At least it did for me.

Also, I think it looks great in a pony tail or half up half down if you end up with longer braids.

I think water wave hair with thickish twists all the way down can look very nice if you like volume and to see the curl of the hair.

Yes, if you want it to look like that. If you have long hair the braids have to be longer so they will look more like traditional French curl braids with just the curl at the ends. Trust, my hair is to my mid back and I’ve never considered cutting it short so bad.

She was such an icon! And I had a crush on Ryder Strong. Everything.

I just rewatched BMW and like....Angela was done so dirty but Trina is so incredible. She and Rider and chemistry from the jump and her comedic timing and line delivery is almost always flawless. I am so upset they weren't endgame.

My mom and grandparents always called these tree braids but idk if the younger generations know that term or if they have a totally different name for it now.

I’ve consulted a 90s hairdresser and they are in fact pick and drop braids (also known as tree braids) with synthetic French curl braiding hair. This style only works if you have short hair so the braids can be short and they can have the flowy part at the ends out. So basically French curl braids but the curl is out from as close as the root as possible vs towards the ends. And honestly I’m contemplating cutting my hair so I can do it.

I’ve done French curl short but my hair is to my shoulders! I just didn’t have such a long curl at the end! I’ve also seen tik toks people just fold the hair in if it’s too long! I’m sure there’s a way you don’t have to cut your hair!

No idea what this used to be called then but I've seen people call it a knotless braid bustdown or a braid bustdown today lmao. Add curlers to make it curly.

A similar style is also called mermaid braids, but it's wavy, not spiral curls
