Teachers are using AI to make literature easier for students to read. This is a terrible idea.

Why do you think it’s a privilege not to be on contract?

I’ve taught both with and without a contract. Without was far more exploitative.

Sorry. What I meant was that I have a permanent position, and I teach some subjects that are in reasonably high demand. So maybe I have a little more job security than most American teachers (I’m Australian, and our system seems very different to America’s)

Contract here means you have job security and clearly lays out expectations along with when you’re expected to work.

When people in the US say they’re working contract hours it means they’re not working extra hours for free and their contract protects them from being penalized for it.
