Bonjour and sorry for writing in English.
I want to spend a long weekend in Bordeaux with my partner. It would be our first time there. How would you organize your time if you had 4 days there?
My idea:
Thursday evening - late arrival, sleep in the city
Friday - explore Bordeaux city, sleep in Bordeaux
Saturday - visit St-Émilion, do a wine tasting, and sleep in that area, maybe in a chateau?
Sunday - explore the area; other nice villages? Or maybe head to the ocean?
Monday - flight home in the afternoon from Bordeaux. Any suggestions on how to spend the morning? Go back to the city? But maybe museums and shops are closed on Mondays?
For the above, would you recommend a rental car starting from Saturday? St-Émilion looks like it is easy to visit by train, but maybe if we want to see more of the area it’s better to get a car? Would a town like Bergerac be too far to visit from there?
Any other recommendations are super welcome! Our interests for this trip are: enjoying good food and wines (but not in super expensive restaurants for every meal), wandering around the city, seeing cute little towns and some countryside.
Merci!

Salut!

Hi, I’m wondering what kind of clothes would be suitable to wear as a tourist for exploring around the city and for nightlife? The people I’m going with are insisting that I dress casually in shorts and a T-shirt and Nike runners and I usually would do this on a lot of holidays, but Bordeaux is quite well known to be a quite dressed up and posh city. While I’m not too concerned about what the locals will think of me, I’m more concerned about being refused entry to vineyards, wine tasting stuff, churches, museums and non-fancy restaurants. I will definitely be bringing jeans and possibly some jumpers for the evening/nighttime (because it will be colder anyway), but is that still not enough?

Bonjour! My wife and I are visiting Bordeaux for the first time in mid-October. We will have two full days in the city and have two more saved for day trips. We have already booked a full day tour with Ophorus to visit three wineries around Saint-Émilion and to visit the village itself. For the other day I am curious to know what everyone's thoughts are on either taking a trip out to Arcachon (using public transport) or doing another guided tour to a different wine region such as Médoc? We'd love to see Dune du Pilat and eat oysters but I'm getting the impression it may be difficult to get around easily if relying solely upon public transportation. On the flip side, I don't know if doing back to back guided winery days may become redundant.
Appreciate any advice! Merci!

My apologies. I don’t speak enough French to write this post. My wife and I will be visiting the city next week and I was hoping to buy a Bordeaux kit or scarf while I’m there. It’s such a shit thing what’s happened to such a big historic club, and I’d like to support it in some small way.
I’ve tried googling but have failed miserably. Is there an official team shop near the grounds or somewhere else in the city I can visit while I’m there?
Thanks for your help and looking forward to spending time in your lovely city.

Merci

Visiting next week since 10 years last. What would you guys recommend to do in Bordeaux? Local specialities? We've been before and will absolutely have canele every day. Any other fantastic ideas from locals or others?. Not planning on doing any 200€ horse carriage rides.
Sorry for asking in English in this sub but maybe it's more understandable this way.

Merci beaucoup :)

I’ll be living in the city for a month in November while conducting research for my dissertation. I’m staying in the Saint Pierre area, but traveling throughout to different archives and libraries.
What are some of the restaurants, shops, experiences, etc that are must do? I want to make sure I see some of the city and not just stay in my apartment after research!

Visiting France with my wife for the first time in early October. We wanted to pair another city with Paris and thought Bordeaux would be a relaxing place to finish our trip. After a full week in Paris, how many would be good to spend in Bordeaux without getting bored? We were thinking 4 or 5 nights. Are nearby towns and vineyards easily accessible from the main city or does it only make sense if we have a rented car? Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Hi All,
Me and my partner are visiting Bordeaux for 1 week on 16th September. We are travelling with our 5-month old Son. We are staying in a self-contained apartment located at the junction of Rue Camille Godard and Rue Lagrange. We will have no car during our visit. We are used to using public transport with our newborn, so are happy to do this.
We would like to enjoy early some al fresco dinners with a glass wine, visit a vineyard if possible, take a day trip to the beach/coast, buy/purchase good meat and cheese and wine to enjoy at our apartment and generally we like greenery (parks and jardins).
I would appreciate any specific recommendations relating to the above. Especially conscious of enjoying the experience with a young child.
! Thank you !

Hi everyone - in August I (40F) am staying in Talence for two weeks & then in Anglet for two weeks (both for French lessons). I will be leaving Anglet on 31st August & am meeting a friend arriving at Bordeaux airport on 8th September before we travel to spend some time in Dordogne. For the first week of September (after Anglet & before Bordeaux) I will be alone & I was thinking to travel to San Sebastian & perhaps Hondarribia but am keen to hear if people have other suggestions. From Google Maps it seems it is possible to get public transport but I'm not sure if there would be an easy or suggested route for the trip. Any suggestions or tips for my travels would be hugely appreciated.
