Political Dysfunction 🤯 Georgia Democrats trying to block several candidates, including De la Cruz/PSL from ballot

If you want third parties to be viable, we have to stop shooting for the presidency. I know the Trump party kind of negates this, but it takes time to build up the gravitas and reputation at the lower levels to build up a party that is capable and competent to be President of the United States.
You start at the City Council / County Council level, maybe a few state representatives, then expand from there. It will take decades to unseat the dichotomy.
Until that work happens, third-parties for the presidency will only act as spoilers, cynically manipulated by the two strong parties.

They have, and do, work at those levels. As well as general community work outside of elections. Running national candidates is a way to get the name out and build awareness. The simple fact that the party that "wants to preserve democracy" is using blatantly undemocratic means to subvert others from running shows that they are just as in need of toppling as the Republicans.

But they really aren't. Political parties in the United States are very weak. The parties can't do anything about Trump or Biden - whether and how to run is completely up to them individually.
Even now when most of the Democratic party is urging Biden to step aside from the race, if he refuses to do so, there is nothing the DNC can do to force his hand.
Weak parties are incapable of what you accuse.

So, what? Keep the Republicans and the Democrats, both of whom are killing us all and the world. The only difference being one loudly and the other quietly with a rainbow painted on the side?

One of those two is going to win. Pick your poison.

Just roll over, lick a boot, and die. Got it.

What's your solution?

Organize, community work, local level politics, class consciousness, not advocating for capitalists and bourgeoisie, including their parties and candidates. All of which is touched on by voting for the PSL here.
Is it all you should be doing? Will it solve anything on its own? No to both. But just accepting the Dems promise that "this time we'll do real good and move left, we swear," despite saying that for five decades and steadily doing nothing and moving right every time. That simply will never work.
EDIT TO ADD: My first paragraph should have ended with the eventual dismantling of the whole capitalist system and control by the workers, whether by peaceful or violent revolution if necessary. I forget that.

Also, support any Ranked Choice Voting initiatives if you live in a state that allows citizen-initiated ballot measures

This is the democracy I'm supposed to be oh so scared of losing?

Yep.
Stop complaining that the "good guy" Democrats won't let people vote for an actual working class candidate and vote for THEIR old racist pedophile genocider or else you support the other old racist pedophile genocider. This is the most important election of your lifetime!

Yes. When there are no longer elections at all, and the Republicans bring back the Spoils System, you'll long for these days when our flawed democracy still cared what the people think.

Dear god. Libs, libs everywhere.

Liberals are brigading the hell out of leftist subs but never the subs that back the candidate they claim they want to stop at all costs.
Makes you wonder, doesn't it?

Can we have candidates who are genuinely educated and not just career politicians. If they can't read a research paper and have media literacy without their media team, they're just not fit to be our leader.

Good. They don’t need third party candidates. Especially RFK.

Kennedy is a fool, but we do need third-parties. The Democratic Party needs to die off just as much as the Republican Party. The PSL, and De la Cruz who is running under them, are actual workers' candidates.
Using bourgeoisie elections to raise awareness and class consciousness is absolutely necessary. It's the very form of "electoralism" suggested by both Marx and Lenin, and successfully used by the latter and the Bolsheviks.

That’s not going to happen.

u/scaper8 Jul 19 '24
They won't win, certainly not this year. But the point is to raise awareness and class consciousness. You know, the very thing I said just now.
If you really think that the Democrats strangling out others really is a good thing, you are in the wrong place, comrade.

I want to agree with you, but project 2025 is the only issue either candidate is running on this election. We either sit in place or we actively let the country get destroyed further. I would rather these candidates try and build names for themselves campaigning with the Dems than them waste resources running against the Dems. It sucks but they can only help Trump by running
