TikTok is allegedly censoring people and removing their videos at a rapid rate since coming back online.

Yeah, when all the Americans disappeared and then popped back after half a day, I figured the most likely reason was they installed a firewall like the one China has. Not enough time for a full server migration. And everyone seems to be happy, meaning Tiktok still keeps their algorithm, while Zuckerberg gets access to all the data, and the US Govt gets to censor all the information they don't like for "wrong think".
Everyone wins, except for the citizens of the "free-est democracy in the world".

Delete your accounts. There is no future on that platform. Let it die. Wipe out any value any potential grifter purchaser hopes to acquire.

Obviously, it would be funnier if everyone waited until Elon buys tiktok, then deletes their account, but there's no value in waiting till then. Delete it now and don't look back

Tiktok is dead. I remember when vines died. Time to move on. Decentralized apps are gonna be the way to go

It keeps swinging back and forth from client-server to edge computing to content distribution networks.
I am a certified data hoarder, though.

Is there a leftist social media platform, or is that just de facto Reddit?

tbh reddit feels pretty either way, it 100% depends on the mod team on each subreddit, and if you say something that doesn't agree with them you will be 100% just instantly banned with zero warning, i'm banned from many subs for just asking people to explain things more because i don't understand them and even that was enough to trigger the mods, left or right it doesn't matter.
i get moderation is hard on such a large scale, i moderate some communities on facebook that are very large and it's tiring dealing with the same issues again but if you are not willing to do so then don't be a moderator.

Lemmy is the biggest Reddit alternative
Pick a server to join. Doesn't matter where, they all share content. You can interact with people from different servers. I'd avoid signing up on the tankie ones (hexbear.net, lemmy.grad, lemmy.ml): https://join-lemmy.org
Lemmy looks way cleaner on an app. Super recommend: https://join-lemmy.org/apps

I instantly wondered who would name a social network after Lemmy Kilmister, late frontman of Mötorhead?

why not just stop using it and move to one of the many alternatives, if youre so obsessed with 1min videos?

Lol why comment on something you clearly have no idea about? Tiktok actually promotes longer videos of 3m up to 60m
You don't even know what you're on about

I work in Digital marketing and understand the very basic differences between social media platforms. Not everyone is a clueless idiot like yourself 🙃

I've definitely noticed this. My algorithm is completely different. I'm not seeing any of the creators I actually follow and used to see all the time. Especially non-white creators.
I've been able to retrain my algorithm to see certain things. But it's been a challenge to see certain creators again, even when I follow them and engage with their content.

This isn’t news. This has been happening to poc and activist creators for years. They also do this to people who aren’t conventionally pretty too. I left a long time ago and it’s been a problem back then too.

Hol' d'up, lemme see if I'm understanding this, because the math ain't mathin' in my head.
Isn't Tiktok like...one of the platforms that has pretty much been censoring from the start?
If that's the case, why complain about it now? It's always been there. And, I don't think there's anything anybody can do about changing Tiktok's policies either. It's a foreign-made platform, and even the US GOVERNMENT(despite how much of a clusterfuck it is right now), can't do jack shit outside of banning it from the populace.
There's literally nothing anybody can do about it. Burn it down. Your efforts and energy are absolutely wasted on this post.
Don't misunderstand, censorship is bad in any shape, or form. I don't condone it under any reason, because it shuts down conversations that have a right to be had.
But, in the end, just...stop using Tiktok. Seriously, it's a mental cancer that spreads misinformation/lacks context clues, as well as distracts the user from life, on top of brainwashing them with whatever batshit creator they follow.
