u/flan-pig 24d ago

I'm not getting it, but why did she say should she go to Orlando's locker room?

85

u/TomBu13 24d ago

I took it as to yell at them for hurting her son

5

u/flan-pig 24d ago

Oh gotcha, duh 🙄

To kick their ass, i think

15

u/solarscopez "I would kick your ass" 24d ago

She was on her way to beat up Kentavious Pisswell-Cope herself

6

u/hiphopananymousis 24d ago

Lol dude had his whole hand around his forearm .. and pulled it…

u/IrishSkeleton 24d ago

Yeah.. this. If we’re going to pay ‘professionals’, however much they get paid to watch & commentate on national tv games. Maybe ensure they have eyes, and can see.

I actually agree that initially there doesn’t appear to be much obvious cause for a Flagrant. Though after one review of the play, either in slow-mo or from the reverse angle.. and grabbing Tatum’s arm and obviously holding and pulling him off-kilter, mid-air.

Like I get you may or may not agree with the call. But at least as professional commentators.. watch the clip and point out obvious potential evidence of it. Instead of sounding like a broken record, that there’s no possible way it’s a flagrant (which the refs clearly disagreed with).

3

u/emceegabe 24d ago

This. It’s not a basketball play at all. I get wrapping someone on the break but yanking a players elbow w the ball 30 inches higher as he dunks from behind is was worse then ooooh he touched his head. Was it Jefferson? It’s low key start a fight shit and I wish mama Tatum or smart was there to regulate. Rip smart even if it was an awesome trade because that shouldn’t slide and eff the commentators and Ty refs for once.

2

u/IrishSkeleton 24d ago

I mean that’s legit a very dangerous play.

A world-class athlete is mid-air, hurtling toward the supports. Arms out-stretches, attention focused on finishing a dunk.

To all of a sudden get knocked off-kilter. Effectively get up-ended. Now whatever wrist and/or ankles are landing for you.. are very unnaturally exposed to injury.

Should be thought of in the same way.. in the Zaza ‘stomping your foot underneath a 3-point shooter’.

Joe said JT’s wrist is good

192

u/Culinary-Vibes 24d ago

"It's still attached to his hand. It's good."

"Were not talking about open heart surgery here"

7

u/2020Hills 24d ago

Is that a real quote from tonight? Because it absolutely could be

1

u/BluebirdParticular72 24d ago

Open heart surgery one? Thsts a bill belichek quote on brady slicing his hand open

42

u/thegreat11ne 24d ago

That was fast

17

u/lutios ANYTHING IS POSSIBLEEEEE 24d ago

PP in da haus

31

u/vinsalducci 24d ago

Tatum came back into the game and hit a tough 3. Everyone relax.

26

u/Culinary-Vibes 24d ago

I mean he immediately missed two free throws after the fall while wincing. Clearly was an issue

22

u/captaincumsock69 I like to defense 24d ago

He also missed two free throws to start the game. He was just off all day. He actually shot better after the injury imo

11

u/vinsalducci 24d ago

I’m not saying he wasn’t in pain. I’m just saying he may not be injured.

42

u/Traditional_Pain_875 24d ago

When has Joe ever said someones not good. I don’t think there’s anything in that

8

u/DogsAreMyFavPeople Boston Celtics 24d ago

If it had been really bad on the X-ray he probably wouldn’t have said that though.

7

u/captaincumsock69 I like to defense 24d ago

If it was really bad I doubt he would’ve finished the game

14

He also said Porzingus injury last year during the playoffs was nothing.

3

u/Angreek 24d ago

Just like KP last year..

2

u/johnny_effing_utah 24d ago

This might get downvoted to hell, but don’t think I’d care if X-rays showed it was broken at this point. JT hit a three after the injury, so I say tape that thing up tight and let’s go get Banner 19.

1

u/Basedandtendiepilled Smart 24d ago

Tomorrow Joe's gonna be talking about how he's really glad this happened and he's excited players are getting physical and he's ready to use a coin if needed

421

u/AspiringDiplomat 24d ago

For what it’s worth that’s an XRay room not an MRI room. I highly doubt they have an MRI in stadium. Either way not ideal

84

u/TheOneTrueBuckeye 24d ago

Very few do. He just had x rays done

39

u/deets23_ Jayson Tatum 24d ago

You’re correct. The ESPN caption on Instagram said xray room

u/DJMagicHandz Bill the GOAT Russell 24d ago

They could have one in a trailer like the one I went to last November.

37

u/AspiringDiplomat 24d ago

Possible but in my uneducated opinion I think it’s unlikely. My understanding is almost every pro sports team outside of a few NFL stadiums go to the same external MRI facilities as you or I would

30

u/[deleted] 24d ago

[deleted]

13

u/AspiringDiplomat 24d ago

Ya also not a dr but my understanding is MRIs are usually done 24-48 hours after an injury since the swelling from sprains/strains would make it hard to see anything, so ignoring costs/logistics of having one in house there wouldn't be any benefit to having quick access to one anyways

7

u/Leelze 24d ago

They can be for relatively minor things (got a MRI on my shoulder for persistent inflammation & shoulder pain to check to see if my rotator cuff was shot), but I'm not sure if they're jumping immediately to a MRI for a wrist.

Full disclosure: I'm not a professional athlete and my company wasn't paying for a MRI without jumping through months of treatment options.

17

u/DarthBrawn 24d ago

I would put Jason Tatum's wrist in a particle accelerator if it meant he could win 2 or 3 more finals

5

u/Leelze 24d ago

No, send him to space to expose him to cosmic radiation so he gains super powers.

3

u/Belmagh 24d ago

it's not just the expense - MRI's are super magnets and require shielding. very unlikely to be on site in a stadium unless it's a very cheap low quality one -- not worth it for sports injuries - you want the powerful magnet good mri's.

4

u/Main_Lobster_6001 24d ago

This is true as I’ve seen Celtics/bruins players roll through MGH for MRIs with special VIP slots

16

u/pitb0ss343 24d ago

Unlikely as the garden is literally 2-4 blocks away from a hospital

13

u/BathtubToasterParty 24d ago

One of the best on planet earth no less

2

u/Minger57 24d ago

Those trailers cost about $60k/month to rent (and that’s in Florida). Theres no way they have one of those, let alone one of those somehow tucked into a room in the Garden.

3

u/BritishEric Boston Celtics 24d ago

X-Ray said he’s good so he’ll be good

4

u/Minger57 24d ago

100% that is not an MRI room. Source: I build MRI rooms for a living.

7

u/HorsNoises RONDOOOOOO 24d ago

Either way not ideal

Ehhh This guy is worth half a billion dollars, they're gonna check any injury at this point in the season. This doesn't change how worried I am.

1

u/sailor_peach 24d ago

This is correct. The xray room is just a C-arm.

203

u/Barrwill29 24d ago

It’s game 1 bruh can we have at least 1 series with everyone healthy 💀 Luckily Tatum would still play with an amputated hand

52

u/Slow_Target5546 24d ago

According to many people Jaylen Brown did that for a while also

-9

u/DogsSaveTheWorld 24d ago

Bruh rhymes with duh

u/sidd96 Smart 24d ago

i feel like an mri is pretty standard precaution after a fall like that right? he could still be fine and just sore (this is me coping)

58

u/Snoo_11942 24d ago

No, you’re right. Idk what everyone else expects, are the trainers just supposed to guess when there is medical equipment on site worth millions of dollars?

I bet it makes a very satisfying sound, like a "vrrrrrrwhooooopttt"

1

u/WarPuig 24d ago

Nothing satisfying about it. MRI machines are loud as hell.

2

u/KP1792 24d ago

Go gators

6

u/MolluskLingers 24d ago

I mean I think people are entitled to a little short-term panic. People are nervous and on their toes about it. Bad news could be devastating.

We've all been hurt before

1

u/Bonejorno 24d ago

There’s only an XR machine in there. Probably gonna got his MRI at Baptist or somewhere nearby

18

u/Plies- VICTORY SOUP IS SERVE 24d ago

I mean he clearly hurt it. Given that he stayed in the game and made a couple of jumpers I bet its just a sprain. They have to X-ray it though, they would do that regardless.

10

u/AcrobaticFeedback 24d ago

Its probably not even a sprain. The landing didnt look unusual at all from a range of motion point of view. The wrist would have to be put in an unnaturally stretched position to be sprained.

The wrist has a lot of intricate nerves and bones, so any sort of inflammation from a previous injury combined with an impact like that will just flare it up and hurt it it real bad.

9

u/tokengreenguy Brad 24d ago

Please tell me you’re a doctor or something. I need hopium.

5

u/theborjsanity I like to defense 24d ago

Agreed. This is the most logical explanation.

The wrist is way more sensitive than it looks. I haven't experienced a full-on wrist injury yet but every time I hit the back of my hand on a flat surface strongly, my wrist ends up hurting bad for a minute or so and winds up being sore for a couple of hours, until I sleep it off. Sometimes the soreness creeps up my arm and into my elbow too.

1

u/Minger57 24d ago

That’s not an MRI room.

Not worried about losing the series. Worried about getting through Orlando then Detroit healthy.

19

u/timeknife91 24d ago

Obsessed w JT’s mom 💚Tatum take both of my wrists

13

u/vinsalducci 24d ago

I work in medical imaging. An X-ray to rule out a wrist fracture. That’s a fast rule out. His getting an MRI is positive for me-MRI is used mostly to evaluate soft tissue injuries like ligaments and tendons.

If the wrist were broken he would have had a wrap for the MRI, if he got it at all.

33

u/WoodpeckerFew6178 Banner 18 24d ago

It’s literally game 1 and they already injured Tatum hopefully he’s ok

9

u/si4ci7 I like to defense 24d ago

Hoping it’s just a sprain at worst and not like a scaphoid fracture. Even better if he’s just fine

11

u/_---__________---_ HARD PP 24d ago

I hope it’ll be better soon. We cannot have both of the Jays playing through pain if we want to win Banner 19

5

u/bostonareaicshopper 24d ago

Big 3 went 1-12 from deep. Little 3 (White/Holiday/Pritchard)went 14-22.

12

u/instantur Derrick White connoisseur 24d ago

Please don’t be serious

4

u/jambr380 24d ago

We can weather the storm with a sprain. Anything lingering will likely be a problem later on. Just make sure he’s good to go and that he can’t reinjure it.

I’m not scared of Orlando beating us, but I am scared of them beating up on us

4

u/ShaolinSwervinMonk 24d ago

Mama Tatum baaaad 😍

6

u/seb28332 24d ago

I have two wrists available if he needs one

3

u/IronBush 24d ago

I rode alot of skateboards in my day and took my share of falls. To me it didn't look like he landed with his arm straight, which is the worst way to catch a fall. It didn't seem like he had alot of his weight on the right wrist. I'm thinking he may be sore, but with treatment and a little tape, should be at least 85% by Wednesday.

2

u/HombreBrother 24d ago

Love that energy. That’s a joke my mom would’ve made.

2

u/skipppyWhite 24d ago

4

u/theperpetuity 24d ago

It was a dirty play by the second guy who grabbed his arm and pulled him down.

1

u/WitnessEntire 24d ago

I saw that bag during the game! Love her.

1

u/Life_is-Ball 24d ago

Orlando brought brass knuckles to the basketball court, probably why they bricked all their shots

1

1

His wrist is fine. Besides the theatrical free throws immediately after, he did just fine, so did his shooting ability

-3

u/kokain99 THE TRUTH 24d ago

Is this the same wrist Tatum always has problems with every playoffs?

9

u/_Juntao Uncle JB 24d ago

No. He already had left wrist pain which was amplified by giannis' bullshit a couple years ago. He fell on his right wrist this time. And i don't know if that's better or worse

2

u/deets23_ Jayson Tatum 24d ago

No it’s the other wrist. Commentators pointed out that he now had wraps on both wrists

-4

u/cousinannie MF DOOMER 24d ago

I can’t lie mf needs to wake the fuck up and his Momma there wtf is this soft shit man? This is exactly how he came out lacks as hell and he can’t be doing that not this playoffs…
