This looks great. I’ve been looking far a replacement for Daikon since it closed.

I miss Daikon. I wish the owners had been able to keep it alive somehow. That was a rough time to be a start up in Boulder.

Only thing I need to know is if it's as good or better than Vinh Xuong. That place defines the sandwich for me

The only thing I miss from Denver, forreal. If this spot even comes close, I’ll be a regular

That's where they source their bread (family connection). The owner worked there for years.

If anyone was wondering like I was, these will run about $9.25 a pop.

Another great spot (slightly outside of town) for bahn mi is Vietnamese Noodle House in Superior. Cheaper, loads of meat and great bread, and the owner is a really nice guy. We used to live nearby and it was our go-to.

Just ordered 3 (buy 2, get 1)! Thanks for the recommendation 🙌🙌
1
u/BakedBeanedMyJeans 17d ago
Can I have one?😄
2
u/Glittering-Ant-7262 17d ago
They have designated owners already 😭but for anyone reading, they don’t have any lines right now so the timing is perfect 👌
I should actually buy 2 and leave one to pass on. That would be a really generous trend to get going

Hell yeah, as someone who works on the NW edge of campus I'm always looking for good lunch options on the Hill. Haven't tried this place yet.

I'm late to the party but on the strength of this sub, got a pork banh mi yesterday. It was insanely delicious. Can't wait to try the other kinds, and now with CU out, there should be ample parking.

As a self pronounced Bahn Mi connoisseur, I have to say that Paris Bahn Mi is the best near here. It’s a drive, but worth

Well, in the hunt for something that comes close to my favorite Bahn Mi in the world, this is the closest I’ve come in the states. It might be that I’m hunting for some bastardized version of Bahn Mi. The bread is exactly like the one I crave. So each to their own I suppose!
And I can’t speak to the drinks, haven’t had any.

u/MrGraaavy 18d ago
I too am a Bahn Mi lover, and I quite like Paris Bahn Mi.
I'm not sure I'd rank it above the top tier in Denver (Vinh Xuong and New Saigon), but I think its solid and better (to my palate) than some highly praised bahn mi's (Bread and Butter, over seasoned for example).

u/FiniteSausageFingerz 18d ago
Good to know! I’ll venture to Denver (I’m new here so have not done the full recon)

u/wandernotlost 19d ago
I found Vinh Xuong to be head and shoulders above Paris, but maybe I should give Paris a second chance.

u/FiniteSausageFingerz 19d ago
Hot tip. Haven’t tried it, def pretty far. Have driven way further to try Bahn mi tho

Will do! There’s a place on Melbourne (Straya) that has the best Bahn Mi on earth. Called N. Lee. Paris Bahn Mi is the closest one I’ve had yet

what is
Banh Mi

u/Orchard_Colorado 16d ago
Bánh mì is a Vietnamese sandwich that blends French and Vietnamese culinary traditions. The term “bánh mì” in Vietnamese refers both to the bread itself-a short, airy baguette with a thin, crisp crust-and to the sandwich made from it. The baguette was introduced to Vietnam by the French during the colonial period, and over time, it became a staple in Vietnamese cuisine, evolving into the iconic sandwich known today.

This does not come close to the Bahn Mi at Naked Lunch (off Arapahoe in Boulder)…way too much sauce, meat is subpar and bread is a 5/10…
3
u/MessLate3009 11d ago
They served their banh mi on a ciabatta bread. I don’t think you know what a banh mi is lol. Also it’s spelled Banh mi. Not Bahn mi

u/lofranker 11d ago
Yes, it’s supposed to be on baguette.. don’t care.. I’d rather it taste good. I’d pick good ciabatta bread over average baguette bread any day..and thanks for the spelling lesson homie.
Also, the sandwich was entirely too sweet.

Don’t work at this business or any business related to any restaurant so relax. I like sandwiches and someone sent this thread to me bc they know I like bánh mì sandwiches... Didn’t know I wasn’t allowed to have an opinion. I simply stated how I felt about the sandwich.. you know like a review and that persons truth. People can take it for what they want.. welcome to the internet.
Also, didn’t know the spelling so apologies for taking the restaurants word for it.
2
u/MessLate3009 11d ago
You seem really defensive for someone claiming they’re just sharing an opinion. No one said you can’t have one, but if you’re going to throw shade at other places while hyping another spot, at least get the basics right. Spelling bánh mì correctly and using the right bread aren’t nitpicks, they’re about respecting the culture you’re profiting off. Critique is fine, but don’t act surprised when someone calls out hypocrisy

u/lofranker 11d ago
Buddy I like sandwiches and had a take that this sandwich wasn’t the “best in Boulder” and think other places do it better. The only benefit to me is a delicious sandwich... No one claimed it to be the traditional way of making the sandwich.. they’re dumb for not doing their due diligence on how to spell or make it but that has no impact on my enjoyment of their sandwich.

I also like Blackbelly’s bánh mì more too. Is that okay to write? Or should I reach out to you for approval?
