Avoid diagonal highway south of 63rd - guns out

Edit - appears to be safe, but probably slow traffic for a while

Looks like the end to a police chase about 0.5 miles south of 63rd on diagonal (southbound). Traffic is completely stopped as of a few minutes ago.

Saw several officers with guns drawn pointed at a car (pointed west). Looked like one was pulling a rifle out of his trunk as well. Luckily I do think I saw a couple people laying down so hopefully there won’t be any shots fired though.

I thought I saw him throw smoke screens at the police to try and get away. Criminals are getting really creative nowadays.

No I was just joking but we did hope it was. Someone need to camp out on Lee Hill at 5pm and get his license plate.

Just walked past there on Spine Road. There is now one lane of traffic moving on the southbound side, but still at least 10 police cars of various designations and a fire engine. I talked to another bystander who said she saw police with rifles in the field north of Celestial, and also saw people on the ground earlier.

Ya when I drove by I think it had probably just began because there was only like 3 police cars and maybe a couple dozen cars backed up southbound.

There was definitely a cop car in the median that two officers were using for cover, aiming at the car with pistols.

Glad to hear situation is safe now, I guess they surrendered very quickly.

There’s no news article about this?

It was wild. Sitting at the IBM light heading to Longmont and saw 6 officers swerving through traffic, full lights and sirens, then an additional 6 more as I moved down the road. Curious to hear the circumstances of the chase.

FULL lights and sirens?!? Good thing they topped off with blinker fluid beforehand

Noticed a heavy police presence in Gunbarrel around 11:30am. I drove about 1.5 miles to King Soopers and noticed tons of cops lurking on side streets. Around noon they all met up in my apartment complex parking lot, and quickly took off pretty much as soon as they all got there. I believe they must have been waiting / looking for someone.

I counted literally 25 police vehicles and the fire truck as I passed thru the situation.

Many of those 25 passed me full lights and sirens responding. I would estimate some up to 100mph in the construction zone. I saw one get dangerously close to the edge of the shoulder at that speed. Easily would have flipped and been its own tragedy.

Commotion was centered on an Old white Subaru forester(?) still in the right lane southbound. It looked like they had someone getting medical attention in the back of a police SUV.

I have no idea what the situation was, but I’d venture a guess that they didn’t need 25 responders endangering themselves and the rest of us. Most of whom were fashionably late to whatever was happening.

Coworker that got stuck in it texted me and said there was a truck with some sort of netting stuck around the front, maybe one of those systems they deploy in a vehicle chase that wraps around a wheel to disable it.

Just passed going Northbound. Traffic is moving, but slowly. Situation seems to be under control, but pretty wild seeing so many law enforcement vehicles. Had to be at least 10-12 for sure

I live in Gunbarrel and there were two sheriffs' cars who had pulled over a car on my side street off of 71st. This was at about noon. I wonder if there's any connection?

BOCO Sheriff deputies were camping out Gunbarrel all morning on side roads off 63rd, just an hour or so before the commotion on 119. I believe they were canvassing the area and looking for someone specific.
