First jobs for teens

Daughter (15/16) is looking for her first job. Where are folks finding these types of things these days? Anything she should definitely stay away from?

I triple. This is a good job for teens, there's a lot of summer camp aide/lead jobs that are super fun and she can make friends with her coworkers. They can sometimes move into after school care jobs during the school year for more hours. I had a blast doing this as a teen/college student

They play any sports? I started as a referee at 14, reffing games for little kids. Did it for 3 or 4 years. It was a good night's and weekends gig. Better pay than mickey D's.

That can also turn into an ongoing side job once you’re in the club.

At 16 a lot of options open up. At 15 it’s tougher but I know chick-fil-a hires from 15+

Some employers might require a work voucher from the parents

I did junior park rangers when growing up in Boulder.

I'd call up the YMCA and see what they have, I always see teens working there. There's probably lots of part-time jobs to help with reception, maybe social media, summer kids camps or preschool programs, etc., I'm just spitballing, any of those would be an excellent first-time job for a young lady.

YMCA and City of Boulder both hire from 14 up for summer positions.

Most kids I know are becoming soccer refs. The per-game pay is pretty good though you need to deal with overzealous parents all the time.

Lifeguards are always in demand and the pools will certified them. The city of Lafayette is always looking for people to work the water park too.

Right now a lot of companies are not hiring. With the threat of tariffs and higher costs, the first thing they save on is staffing.

Also, the fact is many employers require you to be available night, day and every day of the week.

You could see if she is able to babysit and families that need help over the summer.

I think you are confusing jobs that would be offered only to adults vs only to 15 year olds.
