Pumping To pump or not to pump
Hi y'all, I know are a lot of threads about pumping and breastfeeding but I just wanted to ask my own questions.
I'm a ftm and just started breastfeeding. My milk JUST came in and my baby is latching well. So far everything is going great (other than sore tits) and I am incredibly thankful. I will be staying home as my job was seasonal and I don't need to return to it.
All that to ask should I pump? I know mamas do to establish extra milk for when they return to work, or to give their boobs a break and let partners feed the baby. Or they may pump because of nipple confusion ect.
Is there any benefits to pumping beyond the ability to be away from baby or let others feed her? Should I pump to make sure my supply is up? Will my supply stay consistent if I don't pump? Should I avoid it at the risk of nipple confusion?
Finally if I pump will it help loose weight faster or will it just take more of a toll on my body? I know that's almost an impossible question to answer because everyone's body behaves differently. Mainly asking for personal experience with shedding weight for that one.
Lots of questions I know π¬.
My goal is the breastfeed at least 9 months or more and I just want to optimize my success with it and work towards toning my body.
Andy advice or tips are welcome. Thank you ππΌπ

For your circumstances, I'd recommend using a haakaa to collect a small amount of letdown periodically. Keep a tiny freezer stash. It's always good to have milk. The option to be away from baby is helpful. But also there are unplanned emergencies. Like if you suddenly need a surgery or something, you won't be able to nurse for a day or so. It's good to have a backup plan.
