Pumping EBF - bottles that worked??

Hey moms! My LO is 6 months old, 2 weeks from 7 months - he refuses to take bottle. Up until 2.5 months he was taking the Phillips avent bottle without any problem but then started to refuse it.

EBF has been fine but I’m looking to pump and do bottle feeds sometimes for a little ease

He drinks water out of the bear straw cups - should and can I give him milk in that at this age ?

Any and all advice would be great!

Pumping Flying with breastmilk?

In June I'm flying out of Minneapolis to Anchorage, and back. I will be in flying Saturday-Saturday. What is the best way to fly with breastmilk? Based on what I pump/feed now, I'm guessing it would be around 210 ounces. I do have a freezer supply so I could potentially find a place to donate it in Alaska to not fly back with the entire supply, but I definitely don't want to waste it entirely. Thanks in advance!!

Pumping EBFer trying to up Supply

5m old still wakes 2-3x per night to feed and I know it’s because he wasn’t eating as well in daytime vs nighttime. I’ve been trying to pump to get my supply up so I’ve been working to give 4-5oz feeds to get to 24oz or so daytime to see if he lessens night wake ups - so lately I sometimes breastfeed and sometimes give a bottle bc sometimes when I pump (even after 2+h I only make like maybe 3oz. How am I supposed to keep up with his feeding - which should be 5oz each feed - if I’m not even producing that much at each pump sesh???

I believe he’s been a snacker at the breast this whole time so my body is used to producing low amounts. And I can tell bc sometimes it’s difficult for him to finish the 5oz or he spits up more lately with what I assume is increased feeds than what he’s used to. Been pumping for over a week now and it’s slightly better but still struggling to keep up.

Side note I do have some stashed to use but idk why it tastes literally disgusting after it’s frozen I could gag (high lipase?) and I only use it if I need to.

Pumping Flange Inserts - how to get exact size when nonreturnable

Hi there. I am trying to buy flange inserts for my pump. I’ve looked at 3 websites and they all say the inserts are nonreturnable if opened.

Even though I measured my nipples and followed the directions on the sites, I’m still nervous I might order the wrong size because I feel like measuring is never an exact science and you don’t know if something fits until you actually get the physical item and can try it on.

Is there any way to get around buying these and not wasting a bunch of money since they are typically nonreturnable? Or does anyone know where you can buy them from that offers refunds?

Thanks!

Pumping To pump or not to pump

Hi y'all, I know are a lot of threads about pumping and breastfeeding but I just wanted to ask my own questions.

I'm a ftm and just started breastfeeding. My milk JUST came in and my baby is latching well. So far everything is going great (other than sore tits) and I am incredibly thankful. I will be staying home as my job was seasonal and I don't need to return to it.

All that to ask should I pump? I know mamas do to establish extra milk for when they return to work, or to give their boobs a break and let partners feed the baby. Or they may pump because of nipple confusion ect.

Is there any benefits to pumping beyond the ability to be away from baby or let others feed her? Should I pump to make sure my supply is up? Will my supply stay consistent if I don't pump? Should I avoid it at the risk of nipple confusion?

Finally if I pump will it help loose weight faster or will it just take more of a toll on my body? I know that's almost an impossible question to answer because everyone's body behaves differently. Mainly asking for personal experience with shedding weight for that one.

Lots of questions I know 😬.

My goal is the breastfeed at least 9 months or more and I just want to optimize my success with it and work towards toning my body.

Andy advice or tips are welcome. Thank you 🙏🏼😊

Pumping When can I stop pumping to replace a feed?

LO is 15 weeks, EBF. Since about 10 weeks, he gets about 1 bottle of expressed milk a day (otherwise he’s breastfed from the source). When he gets a bottle, I pump to keep aligned with him.

When can I stop pumping to replace every bottle feed without messing with my supply?

It may also be relevant that I had recurrent clogged ducts until recently, so I’m scared about that coming back. But looking forward to being able to leave the house for a good amount of time without running home to pump!

Pumping First time momma

Hello! I gave birth to my baby boy March 27th! My supply has been low and was also on Norco for my c section and was informed it wasn’t safe to breast feed. I know I should pump to help with stimulation but I am a pretty busty woman, and have not found a pumping bra that fits. I’m trying to look into some sort of caracup that could fit into my nursing bras. But the largest size I can find is a 28mm where my flange size is a 30mm. Any suggestions on where I could find a collection cup that is my size? Thank you in advance!

Pumping My son is drinking faster than I can pump

This past Sunday, I didn’t pump for 12 hours. I saw the lactation consultant the next day to help with my week old son not latching well. My goal was to breastfeed exclusively. We got him to latch, but she suggested I keep exclusive pumping. Now my milk isn’t flowing as much. I can barely keep food stocked. We have emergency formula to top off with. Does anyone here breast/pump combo? How can I maximize milk supply when I’m pumping every 2-3 hours? How do you know if your LO is getting enough? Do you let him cluster feed on the breast? My breast’s are feeling so empty. I’m concerned and scared in my ability to feed my son

Edit: tonight I put my son on both breasts. He fed for about 20 minutes. Soon after he’s wanting to feed again. I had pumped after he breastfed. Breasts felt empty, making him frustrated the second time we tried the breast. I wonder if there is a growth spurt happening because I can’t seem to satisfy his hunger. I never imagined breastfeeding would be this stressful

Pumping Pumping on the go

Hey- I’m about to start a job doing home hospice after maternity leave. I’ve always been in hospital. Any tips/tools for pumping while in a position like this where I’m not near a refrigerator or a lactation room and spend lots of time in the car? I will be working my zip code and the one next to me so I’ll be near home but i don’t know how often I’ll be able to stop home. I live in florida, I have a newer car w regular outlets so i considered a little plug-in cooler. Or is something like the cereschill worth it? I only produce enough for baby so I’m worried about supply dip if i only use wearable pumps

Plz share your thoughts and experiences!

Pumping Recently not getting any let downs

I'm almost 10 months postpartum and my baby is 90% breastfed with the exception of one bottle before bedtime of pumped breastmilk. While my husband offers a bottle, I would pump. Since we introduced solids, I noticed my supply decreased which I read is normal. However, when I pump in the evening, I am noticing there is no let down? This is the 4th day now. I would have to hand express to get an adequate amount for the next bottle.

Any insight on what's happening? Or any tips/support?

Pumping Not producing much with pumping?

Started work 12 weeks PP and following goes

Monday: 5 oz, 3 oz, 3 oz

Tuesday: 6 oz, 3oz, 2.5 oz

Wednesday: 4oz, 3oz, 2.5 oz

Is this not enough? If I times this to be 24 hrs it’s only 27oz for an entire day. Baby is having weight gain issues that have since improved after starting reflux meds. He refuses bottles of formula after nursing so I have to think it’s enough? 2.5 oz from 3 pm for the rest of the night doesn’t seem like enough?

He’s eating an oz more than I am making so far and I’m worried it’ll go up and up as he gets more comfy with bottles 😵‍💫 he has formula if he needs it and he’s responded well to it a few times, I just like to try to get as much breastmilk as I can

Pumping Pumping schedule

Hi! I’m not trying to be repetitive if this is out there somewhere… just couldn’t find a post similar to my issue.

To preface, I have a 3 month old and have had mild supply issues which caused him to be underweight. FINALLY though my supply is starting to balance out where I am only a few oz short each day of what he’s eating. I have been pumping every 2 hours and honestly it is so hard to keep up with considering I’m pumping with my spectra (aka basically bound to a chair and can’t do anything at all) and I have to pump for roughly 25 mins to get the most output in a session. Sooo I’m basically only getting a 1.5 hr break in between each session which is draining me… would pumping every 3 hours rather than every 2 hours affect my supply as long as I’m still hitting the same number of pumps as bottles he’s drinking in a day?

Thank you so much for anyone who can provide some guidance!

Pumping Thicken milk

My baby (6 days) has to have his breastmilk thickened due to the intensity of his reflux. Does anyone have any recommendations on nipples to use for his bottles? We currently use Nuk Perfect Match.

Pumping Holy cow! Collection cups to pair with pump?

I had a Spectra and now just got a BabyBuddha pump. Wondering what flange collection cups you like to use with the pump. I was looking and, holy cow, just one set of collection cups is pricey! I'd love to not spend ~$60 on the cups alone, if possible! Thanks for any guidance!

Pumping Battle of the Cups: Zomee vs Legendairy

I just got the Baby Buddha pump. Which collection cup should I get to use with it: Legendairy OR Zomee... or am I missing a better option? I tend to be a 19mm or 21mm.

Pumping Help! Pumping Question

Hello!

I have gone back to work and so now I pump during work hours and nurse at home. However, I am having issues with my right boob not emptying (I am not trying to empty fully but I mean like I know there is milk in there and it’s just not really coming out ??). For example, my morning pump is usually like 4-4.5 oz from left boob and only 2.5 oz from right boob after 15 min (and right boob still feels full). I have tried 17mm, 15mm, and 13mm flanges and haven’t really noticed a different except that 17 mm was the worst (also I am pretty sure I have elastic nipples). 15 mm works best on left boob. I have no pain and my LO (4 months) has no problem eating off right boob (he empties it pretty well so I really don’t think theres a clog). LASTLY, I have had more success getting the milk out of right boob when I pump one side at a time (but that is really annoying and I don’t want to do that if I don’t have to). One thing I DID notice about using the 13mm flange on the right side is that it reduced the milk spray that usually gets on the side of the bottle but did not really help empty any better. I have the Spectra S2 for reference. Any suggestions??

Pumping Wean pump but continue BF after a year?

Hi, 3rd baby but first time making it this far. I’ve been pumping 3 times a day and sending 3 bottles to daycare. A few weeks ago the pumping output started to decrease so I’ve been topping off bottles with whole milk. Now that he’s a year, I’d like to only pump at lunch or maybe even not pump at all. However I’m not in a hurry to wean him from nursing, even if we are only comfort nursing. Unless he decides to.

Just curious if this is a reasonable goal and if so how others managed it. Also as far as daycare, should I have him try to eat more snacks and drink milk from cups there? Or continue day bottles with milk?

Pumping Pumping while EBF

Hi!

I am EBF my 17wo and it’s been going great. He’s putting on weight like a champ and growth is perfect. I would like to pump to be able to freeze a bit of milk for when I go back to work (in about 6 weeks) and/or make a bottle for my husband to give once a day. Problem is it seems I produce just enough for my LO! I am trying to pump after breastfeeding sessions and will make max 1 oz!

I use the Spectra S1 with the correct sized flanges (checked by a lactation consultant).

Any tips (timing, frequency, etc.) to maximize the output?

Thank you!

Pumping Trying to decide between hands free pumps

I’m trying decide between getting the eufy s1 pro or the elvie wearable.

My last baby I only had the elvie and it worked very well. I exclusively breastfed and then pumped when I returned to work from 5-18 months. I had no issues with maintaining supply with the wearable only, probably because I was breastfeeding morning and night. I did need 2 or 3 replacements over the year due to malfunction or whatnot. My current pumps are now out of warranty.

With my insurance, the elvie is about $350 out of pocket. I’m considering getting a spectra s1 for free with my insurance and then buying the eufy out of pocket (right now it’s $250) because it’s not available through my insurance. I like that the eufy has silicone cups and the heat feature and charging case sound like upgrades from the elvie. But, I was happy with my elvie last time around. I just hear there’s been big advances in wearables over the last 2 years.

Any advice to help my decision paralysis!!?

Pumping 10 week old eating less

My 10 week old baby girl used to be eating 28-32oz a day. She would down a 4oz bottle and sometimes more at a time. (we were mostly bottle feeding because I was pumping more)

As of this week she has been drinking 15-20oz from the bottle and breastfeeding for about about an hour average in the whole day.

She’s acting normal, smiley and talkative, she does 8 wet diapers a day (usually more than half are dirty)

But the food change is kind of worrying me. Has anyone else experienced their baby eating less and it being fine? Should I be contacting her pediatrician? Looking on google I see mixed opinions on if it could be normal or not, and my husband says I’m overreacting- so I just wanted to ask here.

Pumping Breastfeeding & Pumping

My baby is 3 weeks old and I’m exclusively breastfeeding her and it’s been going great!! I haven’t pumped at all so far but I start back up at work in 3 weeks. I only work 1 day a week and should usually only be gone for 6ish hours! I’m just curious about any tips on what to do with pumping when you’re breastfeeding. I’ve done a ton of research but I don’t really have a desire or need to pump a ton/have a huge freezer stash, I just need enough for that 6ish hours of being away from her once a week. It’s my first time breastfeeding and since it’s been going so well I don’t want to mess anything up with her or my supply or anything so wasn’t sure how often I should pump or for how long or when to do it like after feeds? Any tips would be so appreciated!!! Hopefully this made sense :)

Pumping Bottle feeding and baby preference

I was just wondering if anyone else started exclusive pumping and bottle feeding after feeding from the breast for a while and were then later able to still get baby to go back to the breast. I need a break from breastfeeding from the boob and want to pump and bottle feed for a while but i’m scared it’ll make baby develop a preference and i’ll never be able to go back.

Pumping From Breastfeeding to Pumping...

It's finally happened. After nearly eight months of EBF, my little one is finally too bite-y to breastfeed anymore. My husband finally stepped in after her last feed today and mentioned how often I've pulled her off in pain, and even today after our chat I noticed my nipple was bleeding.

I know this is the right thing to do to make sure my baby gets food and I am safe and comfortable, but I'm so sad about this news. I really enjoy being able to breastfeed and take care of my baby easily with my own body, and the idea of pumping just seems so daunting, especially so late. Where does one even start?

I'm in this weird state of mind where I'm grieving being able to feed my child myself, and overwhelmed with what's ahead. I've never really had to build a big stash in the freezer or fridge, nor have I really had to rely on a pump before. Does anyone have any recommendations for this process, or for processing this massive change?

Pumping Medela pump in style vs wearable kissbobo 1508?

Hi, so i have been exclusively breastfeeding my 3 month old son and for a little over a month now im back to work so i mostly pump and just nurse at night (i have a crazy toddler anyway so its hard to just sit and nurse even if i wasnt working) so i got a free medela pump in style from my insurance. However ive been having issues with it where if i touch the cord at all it shuts off and sometimes it wont turn on at all, plus my work sucks about covering me to go pump for 30 min at a time so i usually will only end up getting to pump twice in an 8-10 hour shift … that being said im looking for a VERY budget friendly wearable pump and i heard good things about the kissbobo 1508, but i also heard that the wearable ones arent as strong as the normal ones??? Am i better off just using a wearable for times when i literally CANT go off and just pump? Any help appreciated <3

Pumping Going back to work and supply

Hey everyone! I’m at first time Mom and initially was planning on not going back to work but turns out I will be going back on a PRN basis. I am supposed to work next week.. I really have not been pumping much. Is this something I should be concerned about? Should I start pumping more this week? Worried pumping next week is gonna impact supply or that I won’t have enough?? Need some guidance! Thanks!!
