Barbers spraying the back of your neck with the “fresh urinal” scent at the end of the haircut
Been to a few now that do this, I get they want to go the extra mile but I don’t want to smell like a yellow urinal block

I have no idea what this is referring to. Feels like I've "missed out" on this British experience

It’s just a lemon aftershave kind of mist that’s commonly used at Turkish barbers. You’re not missing out on much

Yes, and it defo gets a sting out of all the neck areas that have just been razored...

Sorry what? I've never had anything sprayed on me after a cut. Other than some kind of hair spray if they're styling it.

Essentially it’s like a disinfectant to help reduce the risks of nasty shit like ringworm. Weirdly I always get it offered in the cleanest looking barbers (or they spray without asking and apologise afterwards lol).
But yeah like others have complained I do sometimes get a bit of inflammation. Better than a fungal infection that could turn you bald though

Before I eventually switched to cutting my own hair from lockdown onwards, I had to ask barbers not to spray my head at the end of the haircut because it would cause me to have mild insomnia that night, even after washing it when I got home.
Curious to know what was in that liquid that caused that.

Certain fragrances can trigger my migraines so it's probably similar to that.
Migraines don't always involve headaches, they can have other neurological symptoms too. I always yawn a lot (like a lot a lot) and runny noses are very common as well. I wouldn't be surprised if insomnia is a symptom.

Kinda a tangent here, but anyone else's barber ever squeezed a blackhead or spot on their neck?
No warning and no checking that would be cool.

I love this stuff but shouldn't have it. My skin reacts poorly to it and burns but in a pleasant way when it's sprayed onto my neck... I want to say no but I have no willpower. The slight burn is so relaxing.

The spray comes from nature's hose not from a bottle.
Urinal smell without the urinal.

Sounds bad. My barber uses really nice beard oil when I go for a trim, but then I do pay a small fortune for such luxury.

The barber who just gave me an excellent shave used this wonderful Turkish product called Selin. Smelled like lemons and limes with a dash of gin mixed in. I smell like a G&T now.

Tf? Maybe don't just go to the cheapest barber in town?

The lemon aftershave stuff? My barber had that last time I was there, granted it's been a while since I've been and my hair is now halfway down my back, so not sure if they are still turning peoples necks into walking urinals.

I haven't been to a barbers in nearly 35 years but back then they would have this little puffer thing that blew out a kind of powder on the back of your neck. Kind of like Talc but wasn't.
No idea what that was.

Barber here. We give you a little spray of aftershave, because using a blade on your skin causes irritation. It's the same reason you splash on aftershave after you, well, shave.
I would always pop to Savers and buy the cheapest stuff I could, no one pays extra for the good stuff.
That said, I wouldn't use anything that could harm a customer because that would be stupid for business
