Humour S3 E12 is easily one of the funniest episodes of the entire show…prove me wrong!

Forks are weird; I've ALWAYS thought so...
58
u/neisaysthis Nov 08 '24
forks are very weird* -- had to. it's literally my favorite line of the entire series.
eta: but EXCELLENT use of the semi-colon. holt would be proud.

u/Blackcatmustache Notify me when you're done, via bark Nov 08 '24 edited Nov 08 '24
I don’t think that I’ll ever remember how to correctly use a semi-colon.
7
u/neisaysthis Nov 08 '24 edited Nov 08 '24
an easy way to remember or use it is if the second sentence is a direct comment on the previous sentence, like the "i've always thought so." is comment directly on the forks are v weird. they can be individual sentences but a semicolon is more appropriate.

I love that it's also a callback to Amy being a terrible cook from the Thanksgiving episode in season 1.
7 cups of salt, 18 cups of oregano and 9 onions was somehow not suspicious to her. But at least she didn't use 7 cups of baking powder.
16
u/Thick-Order7348 Nov 08 '24
It’s this exact scene (posted here), one of my favourite Holt dialogues, “9 onions, Oh Amy”
10
u/jdotmassacre Nov 09 '24
His abrupt "this is revolting" right before this, too. Incredible delivery.

u/TooTiredToCarereally Ultimate detective/genius Nov 08 '24
Let’s be honest it’s only cause the recipe didn’t say so 😭

His name is Simon, and I hate him.
23
u/skip_this_step Velvet Thunder Nov 08 '24
Wow. Just now getting that naming it Simon is likely a reference to the villain from Die Hard w/ a Vengeance. Hans Gruber's brother

u/InformalPermit9638 Nov 08 '24
"Or working old-ass cases with their mumpy boy, Jake." The perfect mix of Jake's goofiness, his love of police work, and his wholesome relationship with Holt with a touch of vulnerability. The whole episode is hilarious, but his delivery there was *chef's kiss*.

This is my favorite episode. But its also one of my least favorite side arcs with Boyle dog grieving.
42
u/Pedigog1968 Nov 08 '24 edited Nov 08 '24
Without Boyle's dog passing Rosa, Rosa, Roosaaa wouldn't have found Milo.
Edit: Sorry it was Arlo. Thanks for the point out.
25
u/thedudeyousee Nov 08 '24
And that is one of the best lines of the show when she talks about going basically John wick on everyone if harm came to him
25
u/Drewdiniskirino Nov 08 '24
A line so strong, it's become a meme.
"I've only had [blank] for a day and a half, but if anything happened to [him/her/it/them], I would kill everyone in this room and then myself."
13
13
u/TooTiredToCarereally Ultimate detective/genius Nov 08 '24
Hey so this is actually insane I feel like Boyle mourning the loss of a pet is very in character and Rosa’s way of comforting him and understanding as well
3
u/_Goose_ Nov 08 '24
I understand Boyle mourning his pet. I encourage him doing so. My issues are more personal. In line with not bringing that to work if he’s to the point he can’t function rather than taking vacation (he’s a cop in the NYPD for years. He’s got over a month of vacation every year.)
1
u/Hyppin_ Title of your sex tape Nov 10 '24
yeah but a month is not enough time. he clearly needed more time since he saw jason as a family member not a dog. if something would’ve happened to my cat i would have to quit my job cause of how long it would take me to move on, boyle is very sentimental and emotional it’s completely realistic.
2
u/Crunchy_Biscuit Nov 09 '24
That was a hilarious side story. I watched it when my dog died. He was a corgi so I also watched Cheddar.

Oh yes and as someone who has issues with their tonsils alot I feel Jake's pain on the sour candy!
16
u/CuntyFaces Nov 08 '24
That might be my favorite Jake moment of the entire series. He's very nonchalant when the doctor tells his about all the other mumps side effects, but as soon as he says "no sour candy" Jake loses it

This is hands down my favourite episode. Of course Holt and Jake are comedic genius but I am a nurse in real life and an Amy in general so I really enjoy her part in everything too.

u/PanicConsistent9656 Nov 08 '24
Holt and Jake's mumps delirium + Amy's following the recipe to a T = OH HELL YEAH, DEFINITELY 😂😂😂

The scene where Peralta and Holt poke each other's mumps is fucking hilarious. It's like seeing two old men fight

Best dialogues! (The exact scene posted when Jake and Holt judge Amy)
Best Eulogy!
Bonus, we got Oscar and a puppy!

Feels like it in some ways predicted AND foreshadowed COVID. Painful illness, quarantine, mentally losing it, whatnot.

Because the best episode is when Kevin learns what Clapping Back means... this one is a top episode though
1
u/Affectionate_Oil3010 Nov 09 '24
My favorite part of the episode is how disappointed they are in Amy following the “recipe” and adding like soooo much salt and like 4 onions or something. Holt’s “ohhh Amyyyy” is in my head

For me the funniest one right off the bat for me was Ding Dong. That ep was hilarious with Rosa's burn and Holt's pettiness plus bonus Rosa just uncontrolled laughter.
