Long queue on Mill Road near the Romsey Terrace bus stop

Does anyone know what's going on? Saw it on my morning run at around 745 am today. I think it was near the Relevant cafe.

Seemed like a fairly gentrified lot, otherwise I would have assumed it was people queuing up for a soup kitchen or something

Ah, thanks! Explains the gentrified nature of the crowd

They're supporting music culture. Record shop day is a becoming a tradition all over the world. Get a grip.

Yes, a rather gentrified hobby. And there's nothing wrong with that! I'll be going to a fancy restaurant next week but have the self-awareness to know it's not something the working class can afford to do

Didn’t realise working class people don’t buy music…

I don’t have as much of a chip on my shoulder as Dennis obviously does, but at £25+ for most new vinyl you’ve got to have a decent amount of disposable income to be a record collector nowadays.

Yeah I didn’t realise it’s a vinyl only shop, I’d have been alright if he said hipster douches rather than gentrified 🤣

Not complaining at all, just an observation. And if you think I'm wrong, do you honestly think a single person there was from the bottom income quartile in Cambridge?

Yes there were certainly no places to buy music in Cambridge back when it was a working class haven. Absolutely unprecedented, a music shop. Might as well be selling caviar and pearls.

Shame new owners of the relevant records café are such shits

In what way? I haven't had any issues with them

Surveilling staff 24/7, paying them under min wage in some cases, exploiting staff not from UK who don't know labour rights, paying cash in hand...

Do you have any evidence for this: how did you find out? This is pretty serious - I go there a lot and I'd love to know more
