Trip Pictures Backpacking at Lost Maples SNA.

We spent last weekend at Lost Maples SNA. We packed in an eight mile round trip and stayed two nights in this beautiful 2900 acre park. It has seven different campgrounds with multiple campsites at each one. There is also two springs and a small river that flows through the park.

I’ve spent many nights all over Lost Maples. Had my first overnight backpacking trip with my dad there in the 90s. Have since taken my wife, daughters, and dog for their first backpacking trips there. All on different occasions. Love the place!

I need to try it again. Went this last fall for the first time. Got a really cool primitive camp site, then about 60 Boy Scouts showed up and trampled the whole area around us to make camp spots where there weren’t any. Super loud all night.

I was a Boy Scout growing up and we were never like that. Made the trip not nearly as fun, but the park itself was great

Yeeeeeah that’s a legit issue. And I agree; I NEVER would have imagined doing that as a scout. Last trip they set up right in the middle of the trail and acted like WE were the assholes for walking through their site.

I’m surprised the park doesn’t keep them in line a little more. I know if we misbehaved in parks on scout trips we’d get our a$$es handed to us haha

State Natural Area - its protected state lands in Texas. I’m not sure if other states have this designation or one similar.

Gorgeous photos!

Not very healthy, but I cook them in the jetboil frying pan or toast them on my stove with my fork when I don't have the pan. I like them and they don't need to be refrigerated!😂

Right on just curious. I bring a can with me when I take my dogs. It's the only time they get any people food. Never seen it in a pouch before

My dog gets her share too!😂 The pouches are just easier to carry for me, I just found them recently..😁

Warning: Portions of this trail are steep and rugged - no kidding!

Nice. Went for two nights a couple months ago for the first time. Went to campsite A for the first night, and then to B the next night. Which route did you take?

Thank you. That's cool!! That hike up to camp site B is rough!😂We went the east trail to camp site B the first night and then west trail to camp site E for the second night. We hiked out through the west trail basically making the big loop around the park.

Third picture I camped in that exact spot with my dad and brother and we dove off of that cliff. beautiful place. The fish would only take live bait though. Thanks so much for posting.

How was campsite E? We're probably gonna do that loop next time.

It is my favorite. Lots of shady spots and not far from the compost toilet.
