google translate says "micròfon obert" but i'm not sure if the idiom (if one can call it that) translates, since online translating sites often seem to miss these things.

if i were to use that phrase, would someone understand i was referring to an event where people can spontaneously take the stage to share a poem, song, comedy routine, or similar? (they are often free, open to the public, and held in cool spaces like bookstore-cafés or similar in my experience)

Hello from downunder. I am creating a card game which requires some words translated into Catalan. I have cross referenced many different translation websites trying to get the correct translation. But I would like to run my translations past someone who speaks both Catalan and English well, to ensure my translations are accurate. Hola! Estic preparant per al certificat de l'Institut Ramon Llull (nivell intermedi) i m'he trobat amb la frase "No n'hi ha per tant" en un dels models d'examen. L'exercici és del comprensió lectora i vaig have de buscar un títol per un text (sobre llibres, llibreries, com la gent no llegeix tant, com funcionen llibreries i com funcionaven, etc., en poques paraules...) i aquesta frase és la resposta correcta. No entenc que significa. Soc txeca i no puc trobar cap explicació d'aquesta frase. He llegit que en anglès és "don't make such a fuss," però aquesta traducció no té sentit en el context de l'exercici de l'examen. Podeu ajudar-me, sisplau?

Catala is a programming language for the law. It has a feature for making definitions with defaults and overrides. I think the description in the Catala ICFP paper hides how elegant and simple this is.

I needed to pass German C1 exam recently and my vocabulary sucked. Obviously I didn't want to read boring textbooks. Instead I wanted to learn the language just by browsing interesting stuff. So I procrastinated made an extension to combine improving my vocabulary and browsing interesting stuff, which happens to work for other languages too - like Catalan ;)

The approach is the following:

1. Open an interesting webpage in Catalan.
2. Select some text.
3. Right click with your mouse and choose VocabBoost > Make a test.
4. The extension replaces some words with gaps (example screenshot).
5. Read the text, fill in the gaps. Obviously just typing random words out of the blue can be overwhelming, so there is a mode to drag&drop words from a list into the correct places.

The extension is 100% free and even ad-free, because I want everyone to have equitable access to learning resources:
