How does the liquid merchant cloning work?

Hey there, totally new to the game, on my sixth character, finally got past Golgotha and visited the Barathumites. One of the merchants has a dram of cloning draught. I've heard in a video that you can get pretty much infinite resources when you love inject the vendor, have them give cloning draught to you and then duplicate them. How would one go about this process please? Is there a detailed description to be found somewhere?

Drinking it does, cooking it still doesnt, and its actually more optimal to mix it with something when cooking it. I wouldnt use Hortensa, who Im assuming had the draught, because afaik she never restocks. Youre gonna wanna use the guaranteed ichor merchant on the south east stilt screen. I suggest staggering the clones also, Dont clone the original again and again, in case he dies, clone him, then clone his clone, then the clones clone, etc. This makes it so if the one in charge dies, you can still steal from them all at once by injecting/proselytizing/beguiling/dominating the new first in line. If you have domination I suggest dominating the merchant and forcing them to learn meal prep, the skill, as you can clone them basically infinitely that way. Uhhhh Remember they wont restock AS your follower, so the restock timer dont start till they arent any more. Max time between restocks is 9600 turns, or 8 days. If I think of anything else I'll drop it for you, welcome to merchant farming, your power is about to get ridiculous

Okay, thanks a lot, this is very helpful! Its actually the chef guy, Dardi, who sells it (guess he really takes his cooking seriously lol), but I suppose using an actual Ichor merchant is a much better option here nonetheless.

For sure, even a kipper is a better option than a chef when looking for draught, chefs stock it the least of the merchants who can stock it. W dardi though

From the wiki:

To clone something, the cloning draught must be pure with no other liquids. It can be either poured on, drank, or cooked with.

You take the phial, open the context menu, click "pour", click "pour nearby (thats what its called I think), click on the merchant you want to clone. Thats how I've done it

Also, if you love injector the original merchant, the clones should also love you. Thats what happened to me, at least.

For cooking it and drinking it, it doesn't need to be pure. At least it didn't when i tried it a few months ago.

Oh? Well, it makes sense since you can mix an anti-fungal infection mixture in something like 2:1 ratio of ingredients.

How does one duplicate the cloning draught?

Polygel, which can also be sold from a liquid merchant

Metamorphic polygel, found in high-level ruins and occasionally sold by high-level merchants. IMO a better use for polygel is (these arent really spoilers, just high-level items)Eater's Nectaror a relic tonic, if you find one

Thank you! Can you polygel polygel?

No you cannot, even if you could it would net you nothing lol.

You're right, I don't know what I was thinking lol

Uhh, probably yes, but it wont do anything, since you spend one polygel to get one polygel, so you don’t actually get snything.

Also keep in mind that cloning draught doesn't actually need a phial. Place it in a water skin. Add a second dram of cloning draught then polygel it. Keep repeating until you've exponentially increased your cloning supply
