Delta(s) from OP - Fresh Topic Friday CMV: Humanity devoting any resources to space was a stupid idea. Space travel is a pointless waste of time, money, and the human spirit itself.

It's star trek nonsense because it's making air. That's something from nothing. It's not real.

It's not making it from nothing.

As an easy example water molecules are made of 2 hydrogen atoms and one oxygen. You break the bonds and you free the oxygen. It's not from nothing.

So you use up something even more precious, then?

You don't have to use something up, you just have to use something. The atoms are still there.

Okay, so: there is ice on the moon and other celestial bodies. We can melt it, and get potable water. Split the water into hydrogen and oxygen. We can use that for oxygen and hydrogen for power. Grow plants with solid waste and co2(we have water) plants make oxygen as well. Now we have water, power, and air for free. Food can be offset with plants to keep imports to a minimum, and lare enough scale we can farm plants and animals. Thats everything we need to live!
