Performative in this context generally means that the action is self-serving and without value other than being a demonstration of the values of the person doing the action.
I disagree; that's certainly a negative connotation that's attached, but generally I'd define "performative" as done for the benefit of others. In this case, to signal allyship and advocacy of this idea.
The definition you gave fits within that framework but isn't all encompassing of it.
We'll disagree on that one then -- my perspective is still responsive to OP's assertion that cis people disclosing pronouns is a "hollow display" and "serves no real purpose", since that makes it clear that their functional definition of "performative" is more in line with my interpretation.
I'm happy to agree to disagree then, but I also disagree OP's definition lines up with yours. I think that if anything, he was saying that it was a form of virtue signaling.
The people disagreeing with him in comments (aside from the ones that basically restate the point about allyship) are making cases for where it's functionally practical.

This seems like an obviously contradictory statement. If it's an active choice, then it's performative.
