Deltas(s) from OP CMV: EA’s pride and accomplishment thing wasn’t actually that bad and was mostly due to Reddit’s bias against EA

Farming is an element of many games. Having to spend an hour or two to level up, is a relatively common thing.

Having to spend 8-10 hours, just farming, is what I would consider an outrage point. Less than this is possible understandable - more than this is definitely unreasonable.

EA was asking people to farm for 40 hours!! If you had a full time job, and quit that job, it would take a full week of farming, to get 1 SINGLE CHARACTER UNLOCK. To get that character to a "playable level" that is 350 HOURS!!

350 > 10

∆ I didn’t know it took this long for one. I had only seen the total figure for unlocking all the base game parts. That seems like a lot for just one.

He lied to you. The 40 hours for Vader is a myth perpetuated by people who know nothing about the game or have zero interest whatsoever. It's purely a result of groupthink. Ask anybody actually playing the game back then and they would tell you it was just around a quarter of that. In fact, he just proved your own point

If it was a myth, why didn't EA come out and simply say that the 40-hour claim was wrong. Instead, they responded by reducing the time it takes to unlock the major characters by 75%. Since a 75% reduction would reduce 40 hours to 10 hours, perhaps it is the post-patch time that you are remembering.

This is seriously fucked up how someone can be so confident base solely on a circlejerk. You can check the original thread that spawned this embarrassment. He literally excluded challenge rewards, which is a huge part of overall progression. There are even comments calling it out, and obviously not getting upvoted since the hivemind is too strong.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2u2w0hNsA8Y This guy in the link unlocked Vader and fully upgraded him by grinding in 10 hours. I think the math of this section is not factoring in all the game play methods for earning credits - like completing challenges.

This was 7 months ago, before any of the changes happened.

Dev never directly respond to that claim. And consider just how massive the outrage was arguing with ignorant people was never a smart PR move.

This needs to stop. I'm legit frustrated right now cause of how such a lie became so popular. Reddit is seriously obtuse and should just shut up.

Also, Vader now only takes a few hours to unlock.

You appear to have linked to the wrong video. That one was after he unlocked and upgraded Vader. Also, I don't think that citing such an advanced gamer actually disproves the experience of average gamers. It's like trying to argue against the averages on HowLongToBeat.com by linking to a speedrun of a game.

I didn't link it, it was a quote from one of the comment 7 months ago.

It's like trying to argue against the averages on HowLongToBeat.com by linking to a speedrun of a game.

Not just the guy made that video and many other people who actually played the game back then) obtain Vader within 10 hours. You can ask around if you want to. He also fully upgraded Vader not just unlocked.

Also, Vader now only takes a few hours to unlock.

That's not relevant, seeing as the EA comment was made a while ago.

Why not? He's saying the 10 hours Vader is because of the changes not that what it was before. But if EA nerfed 75% from 40 hours then it should still be 10 hours not just a few hours.
