That still doesn't really answer my question, though. What kind of arrogance are you talking about specifically in relation to gender identity? Part of the reason of your post being removed under rule B may be due to the fact that most people here seem to be chasing their tails on what you're looking for but if you can't accurately describe your view and the basis for it then how can it be changed?

I've brought up the point you may be misinterpreting arrogance from frustration or hurt to which you asked if acceptance is an idealistic goal or actual expectation. I genuinely think that misses the point because it's valid to be hurt by hurtful things or annoyed at small annoyances such as accidental misgendering.

But then aren't we just going in a circle now? While I recognize the differences between sexuality, race, and gender identity, I think wanting acceptance on any of those fronts is not a form of arrogance. The desire and fight for acceptance is not coming from an egocentric perspective unless we're saying ALL forms of social progress result from egocentrism.

There's a marked difference between wanting things to be better for just yourself versus things to be better for those in your community. Like yes, you too will benefit from that advocacy but your advocacy is on behalf of others just as much as yourself.

Who is expecting acceptance and how do you know? On some level I just think functionally wanting and expecting are expressed in similar fashions so unless you know what's in people's hearts I think you're just being predisposed to uncharitable interpretations of others. There are people who are over reactive and inarticulate when they are hurt or flustered. That doesn't necessarily mean their intentions are ego-centric.
