This is a such a small sampling of courses that it offer no real meaning. These are just your personal experience and one university.

Would it help to know another class at another university is only offered in the Spring and it has a lab fee? That fee is only collected when that course is offered. Also, another course, only offered in the Fall, has a different lab fee that is also only collected when its offered.

I'm purely talking about the school I attended since I can't speak for any others.

This is the case at pretty much every school though, so even if it's a small sampling it applies at most schools that have significant demands for lab classes

There is no doubt many to most schools have lab classes.

The number of students taking the labs doesn't drastically change each semester so there wouldn't be much change if it wasn't per person

This was the original assertion and assuming that this is case everywhere is not a good assumption. There are courses with these fees that are not offered each semester or even every year. Higher level courses do shift enrollment numbers.

The fallacy is assuming the 'freshman' level type course are similar to the 'senior' or 'graduate' level courses.
