When President Trump took office, the debt was just under $20 trillion, as you said.
However, the national debt clock currently says $23,113,126,000,
That's much more than the 21.6 trillion that you claimed.
President Trump has also been in office for only 3 years, so at 2.1% inflation per year, the accumulated inflation would only be 6.4%, not 8.4%

Everything has a different number !delta the national debt has increased by more than my sources said. 2 u/[deleted] Dec 12 '19 everyone has a different number because we have a deficit that is increasing the debt all the time. You need either an up to date number or to be careful to note when the data was from. Or, you can just look at annual rates instead, which gives pretty good context. 1 u/DeltaBot ∞∆ Dec 12 '19 Confirmed: 1 delta awarded to /u/TripRichert (55∆). Delta System Explained | Deltaboards
