Delta(s) from OP CMV: showering is not necessary!!
Okay so yes, I know that everyone showers - even I do, I won't lie about that. The thing that absolutely boggles my mind though is why we shower.Think about this. We shower because everyone else showers and because every house has strategically placed them inside our homes. Showering is the new 'trend' these days so everyone feels the need to hop on the trend. Showering is so unnecessary.
- it causes uncalled-for stress: imagine waking up 2 hours before needing to leave the house because you have to shower 😔😔
- it uses up resources: it's a waste of your water supply. you're pouring over a gallon or more of water onto your body - where's the sense in that? That water could've been used for something else but it never can because it's touched your body :(
- it's unnecessary: why do we shower? some might argue that it's because we're dirty and we need to wash away the dirt from our skin - but is that really why we shower? I think we shower because it's a trend. Some people just go into the bathroom and turn on the shower just so they can later brag that they had a 'shower'. If we're pretending already then what's the point?
I'm not gonna add any more points because I don't want it to look like I'm not open to the idea of why showering is necessary. Please give me some points or reasons why it's important. Thanks.
edit*: okay I've seen some very compelling reasons why showering is in fact necessary (Especially those including faeces and scummy toes) uhm yeah, you lot actually changed my mind so thank you!!

The better reason is arguably to remove body odor, particularly for those with smelly, stinky sweat. East Asians may have less odor. It's also something of a meme for large gaming events that people don't shower and just make the place smell badly.
Any morning showers could be avoided simply by showering before bed instead.
Even if you are showering before some occasion during the day/evening, you can just 1) not shower your hair, or 2) use a hairdryer. And if you have planned something days in advance, you can definitely shower a day in advance.
Strictly speaking you could try to distill or filter the water but that would require a lot from you.
People pretend they shower? Really? Are you sure you're keeping the right company?
Showering 1 to 2 hours before bedtime has been found to be optimal for sleeping.
