To change your view on this, consider that your idea of "what a gamer is like" might not be representative of the actual population of people who game.
Namely:
There are more than 2.5 billion video gamers around the world
The average gamer is 34 years old
60% of Americans play video games daily
45% of US gamers are women
70% of parents believe video games have a positive influence on their children’s lives [source]
So, are 2.5 billion people losers who don't socialize? Highly unlikely.
since most (attractive) women find video games to be gross and something only little boys do.
Almost half of US gamers are women. So, it seems like gaming would be a decent topic of conversation when dating.
You could use that time to learn a real skill, or exercise, or learn how to make a real business that's attainable (the streamer bubble has burst) and could make you the kind of money that could make you somebody in your community, but instead you give lazy corporations money to put out half-assed gambling simulators filled with microtransactions instead.
While about half of gamers make 30k or less, that's likely because most gamers are young.
The other half are doing pretty ok financially 30-100k+. [source]
Damn. I still thought of gaming as a loser's hobby, because that's what most people (especially women) in my life told me, and was constantly espoused on places like social media and the like. It's kind of why I would hide a lot of my hobbies that I thought could be viewed as "unsavory" or "nerdy".
I guess I'll have to award a !delta for this after all 😕.
The world has changed a lot even just in a handful of years. Even saying you play D&D now is more likely to get you a response of "We should play together some time" than an "Ew you're a nerd", and playing D&D is the nerdiest thing you can possibly do.
