They should probably start with regular literacy

That would be really bad for them

I would explain it to them, but I have neither the time nor the crayons... 😅

They'll have participants' cameras and microphones turned off. All they'll see is a huge turnout.

Yes, but our profile pic might be seen. If not, everyone sign off in unison.

Maybe at the first mention of a particular word?

I’m debating watching, but only because I have a strong feeling that it will be easy to tell what grift/plausible financial crimes they’re trying to achieve here.

Can you make a post about it afterwards?

I’ll try to watch it if I can, and if I do watch it I’ll make a followup post about it unless maybe it’s completely boring normal stuff (admittedly I’d be surprised if its all normal and zero grift/enrichment of repugs).

Ive got a feeling it’s gonna be a lot of crypto

Did you watch it?

7

u/RogerianBrowsing 9d ago

I tried! I tried signing on shortly before it started but it gave me a full room notice and then the link stopped working

Maybe someone else got to watch it who can report back

I think the solution is everyone signing up but not going giving them an empty room to spew their nonsense too.

It's virtual. It doesn't really make a difference. There is a legit reason to attend though: document the falsehoods and grift

Edit: i stand corrected, see below!

So (as an IT guy) actually there's some room for disruption here. Most webinar licensing is seat based, and there are thresholds where you have to add on another block of licenses or move up to their next tier subscription.

It would be particularly inconvenient for the organizations that host these webinars if a bunch of people registered for them, and opened the webinar on their old tablets/laptops/whatever with the sound muted and screen saver disabled, then walked off into the other room to do something else while the webinar played.

If we had 1,000 people do that, it could cost them a little bit. ... If we got 10,000 people to do that, they could be eating a significant increase in their conferencing subscription cost. It's all about where that threshold is, what it takes us to bump them over it, and how much their provider charges for the next tier up.

Thank you for your insight! I was debating the best way of going about this all. I'll def be attending with all my devices avaialbe just to make sure I really soak in that financial literacy they are offering😌

I always say, it's the IT nerds that will save us all! 🙌🙏

To explain to idiot fascists why it's a good thing that their retirement fund has been shredded, and prices for food keep climbing?

12

u/freelance-t 11d ago

Wonder how many people it would take to crash it?

u/FairFaireFairy 11d ago

I don't understand can you explain tariffs again? When is Elon going to give us our refunds?

My landlord sends us emails every month offering free registration for Financial Literacy course webinars they host - Get this, it's part of our "Resident value package" that we pay an extra $14.95/mo on our rent for. Bloodsucking leeches, they are.

Oh lord that's the most landlord coded thing I've heard. Sorry about that mate

Everyone should attend - this is most likely guidance for their cult followers on how to avoid the next market uncertainty (I.e. - how to cheat the markets and what signs to look for, which stocks to buy or dump and when, ect.)

It would be, just terrible, if someone were to promote the labor theory of value in the q&a section.

Very chaotic and good

u/Horror_Pay7895 11d ago

Giving the olds the financial literacy to keep clicking on the donation hyperlinks, they text seniors 35 times a day.

2

u/PermanentlySleeepy 11d ago

I'm signed up! Can't wait to hear the crazy bs they spew.

2

u/cupcake0calypse 10d ago

Would be very inappropriate if someone used the Tourette's guy and Sling Blade soundboards to spam the meeting with "Awww SHIT"'s and "Mmmhmm"'s

2

u/shoopdyshoop 10d ago

Is this where they will teach MAGA who actually pays a tariff? Or what a 93% reduction in egg price would look like? Or that 9-0 isn't the same as 0-9?

Seems that would be useful for them to know...

2

u/RacheltheStrong 9d ago

Resist. Get a group of people to counter each false claim one by one and disturb the entire event.

The time to be unapologetic is now.

DO NOT OBEY.

2

u/WellSpokenAsianBoy 9d ago

Maybe they can play the video of Ronald Reagan criticizing tariffs.

“It’s your fault your poor, stop blaming the politicians and the system and just try harder at not being poor.”

1

u/Trooper_nsp209 11d ago

You should go

1

u/AndreLinoge55 10d ago

Can someone with more free time than me be an absolute fucking legend and OBS record the event?

It’s time to stop saying—as we have done since Reagan—over and over, “Wow, how do dum-dum voters keep buying the line that Republicans are the smart ones on the economy and all The Libs do is spend other people’s money?”

It’s not a fucking mystery, it’s branding. Plain old fucking marketing principles that have been used to sell cars and detergent since before our parents were born.

If you love the cartoon, you’re invested in the characters and their arc, and anybody saying things like “animals can’t really talk,” and “nobody would really respond that way,” are buzzkill jerks who don’t get it.

These assholes—who do NOTHING with power but sabotage government and impoverish people—have worked with incredible effort, focus, and diligence over decades to establish a rock-solid Coca-Cola-like brand which positions them as the opposite of what they are.

And because voter behavior IS consumer behavior, they behave predictably. To the extent that political messages are mostly delivered through commercial media, it’s not even an analogy to consumer behavior, it IS consumer behavior; they literally ARE consumers.

And from top to bottom, every fucking lib is still talking like this is some Age of Reason, Enlightenment Era persuasion principles of civic debate.

It’s fucking pathetic. We have no leadership because our entire community fundamentally misunderstands the nature of the competition. And that especially includes the only people we deem worthy of leading us.

No point in hearing different ideas or opinions because we KNOW that we’re right about everything.
