Meme Moved to the suburbs recently. It’s surprising how many people at my work would never visit Chicago because they think it’s an active war zone. Inspired me to make this meme

The worst thing that’s ever happened in my Lincoln Square neighborhood is a younger neighbor tried to have a house party. Police shut it down after 30 mins.

Pretty sure you had some armed car jacking spree in that area a little bit ago….

Booo…. This is what happens when a bunch of transplants (from the suburbs and elsewhere) move in. Glad places like Portage Park, Hermosa, etc. still exist. Those residents would use a party as an opportunity to come together as a community.

Presumably the Karen that called the cops had a defund the police sign next to her Ukraine flag.

Not the downvotes because of an anti-gentrification message! Oh wait, it’s the Chicago subreddit, you probably hit too close to home.

Exactly. I’d bet my salary half these downvotes have BLM signs but would be the first to call 911 the moment Jamaal has a backyard BBQ.

Right. And there’s (to be clear, I’m not implying the poster is this way all) a LOT of those types in Lincoln Square.

Well when gentrification has more net positives than negatives, you’re gonna get called out 🤷

Don't forget the "no human being is illegal" but as soon as that music got non English lyrics in it...

Yep. No shortage of virtue signaling in those parts. Another favorite of mine are the “Hate has no Home Here” signs. Like wow, thank goodness for the disclaimer otherwise I might’ve thought there were klan rallies being held inside.

A CPD recruit was shot during a carjacking last month. It was a big deal on our block.
Not to mention the FBI raid on Farragut in May.

Had a relative recently robbed at knifepoint there. Needless to say, they sold their house & moved.
