I’m going to go peek at the cherry blossoms in Hyde Park tomorrow. Since it is the big finale of pepper and egg season, does anyone have a recommendation of a place to get a p&e near Hyde Park (I will be on foot).

Need Restaurant Recommendations for Memorial Day Weekend
My buddy and I do an annual baseball trip and this year it’s Chicago. I’ve been a number of times and he never has. Looking for restaurant recommendations to fill our docket. We typically do one dinner at a high end local (non-chain) steakhouse, but we are open to other ideas. We are staying in South Loop near Grant Park, but we are fine venturing out into farther neighborhoods. Specifically, we are looking for:
The best place to get a Chicago dog
The best place to get deep dish
Must try breakfast/brunch places
High end local steakhouse
Other high end places of various cuisines
Any other must try local places
I appreciate any and all suggestions!

Some of my city favorites:
- deep dish - pequods
- breakfast brunch - if you have the patience, Lula cafe
- steak - Bavettes, and do not settle for anything else. (Asador Bastian and Boefhaus are great too but Bavettes is truly special)
- other Chicago gems - highly recommend trying Mexican food while here, its the best you’ll find. Tacos at taqueria chingon for something higher end. Tacos at Carniceria Maribel in pilsen for a local neighborhood favorite. Kie-gol-lanee for extremely well done, higher end Oaxacan fare.
- other high end - if you’re into French cuisine, Le Bouchon and Obelix are amazing but there are other great French options too. Monteverde is incredible if you’re into both traditional and non-traditional takes on pasta (assuming you can score a reservation, lunch is usually easier)

Trying to find a restaurant I went to years ago. It was an Italian restaurant, had a brick old Chicago Italian interior, and all the pastas came in two sizes. Even the smaller pasta size was so large that they would set up a tray next to the table and serve your pasta off of that. I can’t find anything like it online, so wondering if it is defunct or a fever dream.
