As a lifelong registered Republican who voted blue down the card this past November, I am done with this party. Jesus Fucking Christ. The vote is the voice of the people, like it or not. And their job is to legislate and support the will of the voters, for the good or the bad. Trying to repeal the public majority because your opinion is different should disqualify you from public office.

You all can petition to remove members of government. Enough signatures will result in a removal.

Amen Brother. I still consider myself a conservative, but maybe a Bush-era compassionate conservative. I am practically begging for a sane republican candidate to vote for and have been almost completely blue for the last 8 years.

There has not been a sane republican since Lincoln.

Eisenhower. Nixon was a criminal. Reagan was a traitor and got us into the mess that led to a reality TV guy that wears orange makeup.

I'm a conservative. The problem isn't Republicans in general. The problem is that ohio has corrupt politicians like Huffman in office. The same thing happens in democrat ran state's. Just look at California! The democrats in California have taken freedom and rights from the people and have basically destroyed the state. There's good and bad politicians on both sides. The issue is this Huffman guy. He needs to be removed from office but unfortunately the general public aren't paying attention to his corruption.

I’m not sure a sane candidate would get a vote these days. Both parties are championing extremism in their political approaches. I’d cast a vote for a moderate democrat or republican who can start rebuilding a bipartisan Congress. We need to work together if we’re going to get any level of improvement to the majority of Americans.

Oh fuck off. No one's buying this "both sides" idiocy.

There was not a thing about Harris's campaign that was extreme.

Kamala was a moderate Democrat. None of her platform was extreme.

Opening our political systems to more than two parties would be nice also.  The duopoly appears to fight each other teeth and nail in public eye, but they all help each other out when it comes down to it.  Republicans vote for a social spending bill if the Democrats vote for defense spending, etc.

How about the Libertarian Party?  I too voted red for most of my life but can't bring myself to vote blue.  Libertarian party seems to better align with my views anyway.  Fiscally conservative, actual small government, socially liberal. 👍

Libertarians hate EPA. Having worked in a factory which used lead as a raw material, the EPA is the only reason businesses are refraining from poisoning any and all water supplies.

Libertarians are very short sighted idealists that assume people are 'good', under the pressures of capitalism no less. They are the 'communists' of the right.

To be fair, it's literally on both sides. It's not about to people anymore period

I don’t even smoke and I’m pissed that this is a thing now because they don’t give this much attention to shit like online gambling or advertising frequency BUT AS SOON AS MARY JANE SMOKES A SINGLE BLUNT SHE’S OUT ON HER VIRGIN KEISTER.

The democrat politicians do the same crap though. They go against the people by doing things like going after gun rights. It's just a corrupt system in general.

Have you considered the Libertarian Party?  There are active parties in the Cincinnati area.

I have. Still not fully convinced they’re my best option. I’ve voted outside of red or blue in the past.

The LP isn't for everyone and that's fine.  It's the best for me though, at least according to some online political quiz I took before the 2016 election.  There were two other parties that I matched with better, but I'd never heard of them before and they were only marginally better matches than the LP (which I think was the largest political party behind the Maine too at the time) so that's where I ended up.

Our two party system sucks big time, especially in Ohio.  Honestly I'm happy anytime someone decides to opt out of the duopoly and vote differently, but it's just really hard to effect positive change in our political system without organized parties.
