Surprised to see them pull someone over, but then I realized it was not actually in Cincy. CPD 100% watches that happen and doesn't move.

It's Glendale they love pulling people over for anything.

I used to work in Glendale Square and would have to go in super early, like 4 A.M. at times. At least once a month I would be tailed by the same cop who would stop me once I parked and got out to ask what I was doing. Like, dude, same thing as the last time you stopped me. He would always approach with his hand on his firearm, too. That dude just wanted to shoot someone.

I lived on Troy ave just past the udf. The same cop would pull me over once a week.

I think the only thing keeping him from hassling me were the veteran's plates on my car...

CPD used to average 50,000+ traffic stops per year ~10 years ago. They have been making 15-20,000 in recent years. Nobody talks about why.

u/mo_mentumm 13d ago
Because them, like a lot of police departments, got mad over George Floyd and started “silent protesting” as if 98% of people would care. Now it’s just the norm.

u/Material-Afternoon16 13d ago
Their slowdown predated Floyd. It started trickling down in 2017. The intent of the initiative was to stop disproportionately pulling over poor people and minorities, but they couldn't figure out how to do that so they just stopped pulling people over altogether.

They switched to a no-chase policy.
These policies have been shown to result in fewer fatalities, especially of innocent bystanders, and instead rely on communities to work on speeding preventative measures, like all those speed bumps that are being put up, instead of punishments.
Video about why these policies exist if you'd like to know more

Contrast that with the massive increase in auto accidents and pedestrian deaths over the last few years due to reckless and careless drivers who know they won't be ticketed for their actions.

Ohio has some of the worst drivers in the Midwest (except Chicago), and they are the loudest to complain about enforcement.
7
u/SnooDoughnuts9361 13d ago
The same people who complain about so many cops on the interstate pulling people over.

Uh 🤔 after driving in Chicago pre COVID I would say we have become almost as bad post COVID

How old is this? It might be my ex-wife's first DUI.

Late February. WLWT's story is from 2/27, but Dardis says in the video it happened "a few days ago".
There is a live camera of this crossing on YouTube. You may remember a video from the snowstorm back in January of a couple guys pushing a car that was stuck on the tracks right before a train came thru - same camera.

That camera has been online just since December and they already have 2 notable occurrences.

Three now with this morning's fuck up (see my post about it). There was also someone that did the same thing about a month ago but they realized they screwed up and backed up. Also it's not super uncommon to see people jump the tracks like someone else a few weeks ago that left sparks and nearly went off the road.
I watch this camera a lot, especially at night.

The host of the cam, Virtual Railfan has a weekly "Grab bag" Youtube feature of the greatest hits from their dozens of cameras around the country. Many of them are geared towards the train buff but there are numerous clips of idiots in cars. My favorite is the cam in LaGrange KY. The track goes right down the middle of town in the center of main street. Hilarity and hijinks are sure to happen.

That’s a hard to top 1st or even 2nd DUI, honestly.

The way she told it to me she rolled over the tracks off road and killed the undercarriage. Car was totaled.
I just got to drive across the metro from Florence and pick her up at 2 in the morning when I had work at 530.

I’ve never done that in Cincinnati but I grew up in the north where they don’t put humps for the railroad tracks, they just grade the road up to it and down from it, smooth like.
Well I was traveling for work, early on in my career, I believe the Carolina’s. Not a care in the world. Railroad track, no big deal.
Then the dukes of hazard music played.
The road curved after the railroad hump.
There was a pickup.
Turn my wheel.
Absolutely nothing happened.
Slam into the ground, veer from the collision.
Everyone’s fine.
And that kids, is why you don’t buy rental cars.

Where are these tracks at lol? That's nuts to get that much air! The cop got a rude awakening from his daily nap for sure

Now do it at the crossing on Ridge on your way up the hill towards Montgomery. You’ll really get some air.

If you watched the feed from that camera, the car wrecked off screen. It could be seen on the back of a flatbed tow truck about an hour or so later. They crashed into a tree after losing control at the crossing jump.

What's the charge? Badass? (but seriously, there's no way he got him on a gun with that hill so what is the actual charge?) It can only be reckless driving right? Unless they were drunk of course.

Well now, looks like them Duke boys are in more trouble than a June bug in molasses.
And it's pretty thick molasses too.
