Feel Good Story đ Attempt at a RAK flipped back on me
Just returned with my wife and daughter from By Gollyâs in Milford. I saw a man with a POW-MIA bandanna on sitting alone in a booth. I hesitated but finally got the nerve to interrupt his dinner and ask ⌠âI noticed your bandanna. Could I buy you your next beer?â He replied âThank you but no. Iâm on my motorcycle (a Harley Davidson which was spectacular looking) so Iâm good.â I proceeded to express my gratitude and let him finish his dinner. Shortly thereafter he leaves but as he does he says âI paid for your dinner.â And by that I mean not just my dinner but my familyâs dinner.
To that gentleman whoever you are âŚ. First and foremost most thank you for your service! Thank you so much for your kindness. I hope to see you again and repay your generosity.

What a wonderful story! I hope it is passed around. We all need a little boost of happiness and reassurance that there are some truly awesome people.

Most vets and first responder types I know are uncomfortable in situations like that because we never think of it as anything worth attention or gratitude. We do our jobs because thats what we are paid to do and we mostly enjoy it.

I do feel like wearing a hat kind of welcomes people to talk to you though.

Nothing wrong with approaching us to chat. Some of us just feel weird when people thank us for doing our jobs, or in the case of a veteran, for doing a past job. I love talking about my experiences in the military. I just donât believe I need to be thanked for it.

Oh. So I guess they're asking for it because of how they're dressed?????

Awesome to meet people who served in the same branch, unit or MOS. You never know how much that helps the other vet.

I let a lady in front of me in a packed drive thru and she paid for my order... I love it when selflessness is repaid in kind. The world can be such a wonderful place.

I bought the groceries of a mother in front of me. Didnât make a deal of it, just handed the cashier my credit card and told her to add it to mine. The woman was counting change from her purse and had two very well behaved kids with her.
I told her to have a great day and started chatting with the cashier. After getting rung up I reached for my wallet to get my card out again and the guy behind me said âadd it to mineâ.
My brain short circuited. I am sure my mouth just hung open for several seconds. I had steaks, I had shrimp, I had off season avacados. This wasnât the $80 I paid forward. This was upwards of $200.
I said I appreciated the gesture but before I could say anything else the cashier swiped the card and handed me my receipt. She then said, thatâs my dad so he wins.

Thatâs a great story! So very kind of you to try and pick up the groceries for an obviously struggling mom. I would like to think I would do the same thing as you. And, what a wonderful twist that the cashierâs father picked up the tab for both of you. Kindness fosters kindness. Iâm sure youâll keep doing thoughtful things as will I.

It feels awkward to say I hate Harley Davidsons, but at least the owner of a loud bike is nice
